Overview

Senior Project Engineer – Building Structures in Albany, NY. The role focuses on leading structural design, analysis, and project oversight for diverse building projects, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design and analysis for new building projects (steel, concrete, masonry, timber).
• Perform condition assessments, investigations, and rehabilitative solutions for existing buildings.
• Serve as project engineer and task lead, managing scope, schedule, and budget for structural deliverables.
• Develop and oversee construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Coordinate closely with architects, MEP engineers, and other disciplines.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Perform and oversee QA/QC reviews to ensure technical accuracy and code compliance.
• Participate in client meetings, proposals, and business development efforts.
• Support projects through construction administration, including site visits.
• Plan workloads and manage structural task budgets and schedules.
• Maintain and build strong client relationships.

Specialized Experience Required

• Experience with structural design, field investigations, and client coordination.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and structural design software.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam/Adobe.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving, and technical writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage tasks and deliver quality results on time.
• Working knowledge of building and design codes.

Specialized Experience Preferred

• Interest in mentoring and team development.
• NCEES registration and ability to obtain licensure in other states.
• Proficient in RISA, RAM, or similar structural design software.
• Structural Engineer (SE) license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in structural engineering (buildings‑focused preferred).
• Proven experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring engineering projects.
• Proven experience as a technical lead on projects with successful delivery track record.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills; ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to interact effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to construction management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
• Strong problem‑solving skills; ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast‑paced environment.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).

Master’s degree preferred.
