Job summary

M2X Energy Inc is hiring a Senior Project Engineer to lead landfill gas-to-methanol projects from development through commissioning. You will develop budgets and schedules, identify vendors, and drive facility layout, site design, and permitting to deliver construction-ready packages.

You will coordinate with internal teams and external partners, manage budgets and vendors, and travel up to 40%. This role reports to the Vice President, Development and Operations and offers remote or on-site work

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil preferred).
• 5+ years of project engineering experience on energy projects.
• Experience with facility layout, site design, and preparation of construction packages.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and vendors.
• Understanding of permitting and regulatory requirements and experience interfacing with regulatory agencies.
• Ability to travel up to 40%.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Job description

Role Overview
The Senior Project Engineer plans M2X's landfill gas-to-methanol projects from early-stage development through construction and handover to commissioning. This role develops project budgets and schedules, identifies vendors, leads facility layout and site design, coordinates permitting and utility interconnections, and delivers construction-ready packages to the Construction Manager. The Senior Project Engineer supports construction through handover and reports to the Vice President, Development and Operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning

• Work with the commercial team during project development to define project scope and site requirements.
• Develop project budgets, schedules, and critical path items from early-stage development through handover to commissioning.
• Identify and select vendors and subcontractors for equipment, materials, and services.

2. Facility Layout and Site Design

• Lead facility layout and site design for each project, including equipment arrangement, setbacks, civil and grading, piping, electrical, and P&IDs.
• Work with internal team members to incorporate process, electrical, operations, and regulatory requirements into site designs.
• Apply M2X's templated design approach to site-specific conditions.
• Support internal resources, contractors, and external engineering firms to produce site 3D model, BOM, and certified drawings and calculations.
• Deliver construction-ready packages to the Construction Manager, including issued-for-construction (IFC) drawings and specifications.

3. Permitting and Regulatory Compliance

• Work with internal team members to facilitate permitting at the local, state, and federal levels.
• Provide engineering inputs, including drawings, calculations, and site plans, for permit applications.
• Ensure project designs comply with applicable codes, regulations, and standards.
• Work with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) on local approvals.
• Work with landfill partners on required approvals.

4. Utility Interconnections

• Own or support the utility interconnection process, working with internal resources as needed.
• Coordinate rights-of-way, easements, and site access with internal teams, landowners, and third-party consultants or legal advisors as needed.

5. Support Construction

• Work with i nternal team members to facilitate project execution and s erve as the engineering point of contact for the construction team.
• Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and review change orders.

6. Handover to Commissioning

• Hand over completed projects to the Field Commissioning team, including project documentation, drawings, and vendor information.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil preferred)
• 5+ years of project engineering experience on energy projects
• Experience with facility layout, site design, and preparation of construction packages
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and vendors
• Understanding of permitting and regulatory requirements and experience interfacing with regulatory agencies
• Ability to travel up to 40%
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Master's degree in Engineering
• Proficiency in CAD, including AutoCAD Plant 3D
• Experience with landfill gas, RNG, or upstream oil & gas projects
• Experience managing external engineering firms to produce certified drawings
• Experience working across vendors, government agencies, and partners on a project
