Job summary

Allan Myers, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our heavy civil construction team. Working with the Project Manager, you will direct planning, coordination, and execution of projects from start to finish from our regional office.

You will review drawings, manage RFIs and field changes, monitor schedules and costs, and ensure safety, quality, and client satisfaction on all assignments. This on-site role requires strong leadership and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in construction management (estimating, operations, and/or engineering).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or related field.
  • OSHA 30 hour certification is required.
  • DOT experience is a plus.
  • FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) and PE (Professional Engineer) certification desirable.
  • Working knowledge of contract administration systems, job cost management, change order management, labor & equipment reporting, planning and scheduling, safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • With the Project Manager and Superintendent, develops effective plans for constructing the project and provides input to determine means and methods to meet goals; monitors and updates the project schedule.
  • Reviews and interprets drawings, specs, and technical information; disseminates to the team, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Researches issues, prepares field design change requisitions, generates RFIs, and reviews all shop drawings and calculations for accuracy.
  • Acts as Allan Myers authority on contract between owner and Allan Myers in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Assists Project Manager in identifying potential safety issues and coordinates with Estimators on budget.
  • Coordinates with Purchasing to finalize purchase orders and subcontracts; monitors subcontractor performance for compliance.
  • Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction; ensures accurate, professional correspondence and submittals.
  • Seeks safer, faster methods to perform work.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities such as accountability, collaboration, and integrity.

Responsibilities

Allan Myers is looking for an experienced, hard-working, and dedicated Senior Project Engineer who is passionate about the heavy civil construction industry and wants to take the next step in their career.

In conjunction with the Project Manager, this position directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for the planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of heavy civil construction projects within the area of assigned responsibility. Conducts all work in accordance with Allan Myers policies, procedures, and programs.

This role is on-site and requires working from the regional office.

Responsibilities:

  • With the Project Manager and Superintendent, develops effective plans for constructing the project, and provides input to determine the means and methods necessary (including individual work activities) to meet project goals. Monitors and updates the project schedule throughout the duration of the project, which may include resource- and/or cost-loading.
  • Reviews and interprets drawings, specifications and technical information and disseminates to the Project Team, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design details.
  • Researches drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, etc., and works with owner and others to resolve issues. Prepares field design change requisitions as required; generates requests for information (RFIs). Reviews all shop drawings, design drawings, calculations, and submitted technical data for accuracy and conformance to specifications and constructability.
  • Reads and understands elements of all required/applicable contracts. In conjunction with the Project Manager, acts as the Allan Myers authority on contract between the owner and Allan Myers.
  • Assists Project Manager in identifying potential safety issues and coordinates with Estimators to ensure the budget addresses these issues.
  • Works with Project Manager and Purchasing Department to ensure that all required purchase orders and subcontracts are finalized in a timely and cost-effective manner. Monitors subcontractor performance in order to ascertain that each subcontractor is in compliance with all provisions and requirements of the contract with Allan Myers.
  • Always maintains excellent customer satisfaction levels. Addresses client concerns as appropriate. Ensures that all correspondence, submittals, shop drawings, billings, etc., are produced with a high-level of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Actively seeks better, faster, and safe methods to perform work.
  • Demonstrates Allan Myers Leadership qualities. Is proactive, accountable, discerning, innovative, collaborative, integrity-based, successful, and balanced.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $120,000, based on experience.
