Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering preferred; Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Systems Engineering.
  • 5–7 years engineering experience minimum.
  • At least 3 years directly managing instrumentation development projects.
  • Experience with sensor technologies, instrumentation, or ruggedized electronic devices.
  • Experience in an ISO-style Quality System.
  • Understanding of safety and hazardous location standards and compliance testing.
  • Proficiency with Jira and MS Project.
  • Familiarity with CAD software or EDA tools.
  • Strong communication for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Analytical problem-solving and decisive decision-making.
  • Hands-on, agile engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of next-generation gas detection instrumentation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver complex instrumentation projects on time and within budget.
  • Travel in the field with sales and marketing to understand applications and perform competitive analysis and reverse engineering.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Sales and Marketing to develop product specifications and estimate product costs versus target margins.
  • Work with Finance and the Product Manager to develop development costs, margin, cash flow, and ROI models.
  • Drive the design, prototyping, testing, and validation of portable and fixed gas detection systems within a QMS framework.
  • Ensure products meet product requirements and regulatory safety and performance standards, including IIAR, UL, CSA, and FM.
  • Lead the team and perform design and/or testing tasks when needed.
  • Create project schedules, allocate resources, manage risks, and track budgets using project management software.
  • Conduct and lead design reviews, FMEA, and root-cause analysis for engineering and manufacturing challenges.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and external vendors to source components and transition products from R&D to volume manufacturing with process control
