Job summary

Viasat in Englewood, CO is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Hybrid Platforms team. You will support delivery of engineering solutions across fiber connectivity, network engineering, compute infrastructure, automation, and deployments, coordinating across multiple domains.

With 4–7 years of relevant experience, you will lead project workstreams, document requirements, track milestones, and work with internal teams and vendors to ensure timely, quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 4–7 years of experience in project engineering, systems engineering, infrastructure operations, or related field.
• Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a dynamic environment.
• Proven experience coordinating across cross-functional teams to deliver technical projects.

What you'll do

Join our Engineering team and help support the delivery of engineering solutions across our Hybrid Platforms environment. As a Project Engineer in Hybrid Platforms, you will contribute to projects spanning multiple domains including fiber connectivity, network engineering, compute infrastructure, automation systems, and physical deployments. This role is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with 4-7 years of experience who enjoys working across technical disciplines, coordinating stakeholders, and driving projects to successful completion.

This is a sitebased role, employees work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a Viasat office or work location within a standard fiveday workweek.

The day-to-day

What's the day-to-day like for this candidate?

• Support and coordinate technical evaluations of new platforms and technologies by documenting requirements, tracking testing activities, and summarizing results for engineering teams.
• Contribute to the development of technical requirements, implementation plans, and engineering documentation for infrastructure projects.
• Investigate and help resolve deployment and integration issues by gathering data, identifying root causes, and coordinating corrective actions with engineering teams.
• Analyze infrastructure utilization and asset information to support capacity planning and lifecycle management activities.
• Lead assigned engineering projects and workstreams while ensuring milestones, deliverables, and project documentation remain current.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external vendors to support testing, implementation, and deployment activities.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend enhancements to existing engineering workflows and operational practices.
• Track project risks, issues, and dependencies while communicating status updates to stakeholders.
• Support operational activities including maintaining project records, updating asset information, and coordinating deployment-related tasks.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure engineering requirements and project objectives are clearly understood and executed.

What you'll need

• A minimum of 4-7 years of experience in project engineering, systems engineering, infrastructure operations, technical project coordination, or a related technical field.
• Foundational understanding of networking, server infrastructure, cloud platforms, security concepts, and deployment processes.
• A BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.
• Ability to independently manage assigned projects and prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver technical projects and operational improvements.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
• Experience participating in infrastructure deployments, system integrations, or operational support activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate technical information and recommend solutions.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to document technical concepts and provide project updates to stakeholders.
• Ability to learn new technologies and apply established methodologies to support business objectives.

Salary range

$120,500.00 - $190,000.00 / annually.

For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $149,500.00- $224,500.00/ annually
