Job summary

Tech Army, LLC in Aiken, South Carolina is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead engineering design and project execution for complex programs. You will drive overall direction, coordinate cross-functional teams, manage scope, cost, and schedule, and mentor junior engineers.

Experience with EVMS and meticulous documentation are required to ensure compliance and successful project delivery. This role requires field involvement and strong leadership across site teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or active PE licensure.
• Registered PE licensure in any state strongly preferred.
• Provide engineering leadership and direction for projects.
• Coordinate design criteria, resourcing, schedules, and engineering tools.
• Provide administrative guidance to engineering leads and managers.
• Manage administration, scheduling and priorities of tasks and projects.
• Oversee document control, project controls, and quality engineering activities.
• Resolve conflicts between project and functional management directions.
• Participate in site-wide quality improvement initiatives.
• Build project teams and develop engineering expertise.

Responsibilities

• Perform field walk-downs of job sites for engineering work.
• Field walk-downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces.
• Climb ladders to access remote areas and wear protective clothing.
• Work in environments requiring respirators.
• Produce quality documents with attention to detail as per management expectations.
• Coordinate and communicate with management, engineering, facility, operations, QA and test personnel.
• Mentor junior team members and develop their design knowledge.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in any state is strongly preferred.
• Provide overall engineering and design direction, leadership, and management for assigned projects and tasks.
• Integrate engineering resources for assigned projects by assisting in establishing design criteria, resource forecasts, schedules, and engineering tools for engineering tasks.
• Provide administrative guidance to engineering leads and managers.
• Manage the overall administration, scheduling, and priorities of assigned tasks and projects.
• Manage administration, document control, project controls, and quality engineering activities for assigned projects through section supervisors.
• Resolve conflicts between project direction and technical direction from functional managers.
• Participate in department and site-wide programmatic issue resolution and quality improvement activities.
• Build project teams by requesting, evaluating, and developing engineering expertise capable of achieving assigned project objectives.
• Evaluate subcontractor tasks to ensure design output meets project technical, cost, and schedule objectives.
• Establish baselines for design activities for assigned projects and engineering work requests.
• Recommend subcontractor authorizations for new work and changes to established baselines to project managers.
• Evaluate project cost and schedule variances and implement corrective actions.
• Experience with EVMS tools.
• Review cost accounts for procurement of engineered materials.
• Work with diverse teams to deliver results.
• Establish project scope of work, including ensuring that firm customer requirements are developed.
