Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation in Canton, Ohio, is seeking a Senior Project Coordinator in the Engineering Department to provide project coordination and technical support focused on electrical and instrumentation for refinery processes and operations.

You will coordinate small capital and expense projects and daily support activities to maintain and optimize operating units, with project sizes ranging from $20,000 to $5,000,000. Strong PM skills and cross-functional collaboration are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Four (4) years or more of industry experience is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Project Management Certification is preferred.
  • Experience with industrial Instrumentation and Controls systems is preferred.
  • Experience with industrial power system design is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Creates action plans concerning project scope, schedule, budget, and resource needs for project implementation.
  • Oversees the execution of action plans through application of project management skills.
  • Participates in design reviews and technical evaluations that align project objectives with scope solutions.
  • Catalogues all possible scope solutions against the project objectives for stakeholder decision making.
  • Identifies risk that can impact the success of the project and develops mitigation plans that will lesson or eliminate risk to ensure milestones and objectives are achieved.
  • Coordinates and leads field walk-downs of project scope aligning construction and engineering resources on implementation of project scope.
  • Tracks all input from external stakeholders to be tracked by the project.
  • Leads the project action item list and decision logs for appropriate scope tracking which have cost and schedule impacts.
  • Develops, maintains and controls the Construction Work Package matrices from inception through closeout.
  • Communicates any potential changes of Construction Work Packages or execution strategy to the Project Manager.
  • Understands the scope of Construction Work Packages to communicate across departments.
  • Recommends vendors and contractors for material purchasing and construction execution.
  • Acts as a field representative communicating scope and coordinating activities between construction, operations, maintenance and other technical project teams.
  • Knows the System Turnover and Functional Checkout packages thoroughly.
  • Ensures field activities are executed safely and in accordance with MPC policies.

Position Overview

Marathon Petroleum Company Ohio Refining Division is posting for a Senior Project Coordinator in the Engineering Department. We are seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual to provide project coordination and technical support (focused on electrical and instrumentation) to our refinery process and operations team.

Expect to coordinate small capital and expense projects along with daily support activities to maintain and optimize existing operating units. Projects typically range in size from $20,000 - $5,000,000. Coordination of multiple projects concurrently is required.

Key Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or Project Management Certification is preferred.
  • Project or construction management experience is preferred.
  • Experience with industrial Instrumentation and Controls systems is preferred.
  • Experience with industrial power system design is preferred.
