Role

Licensed architect experienced in mid‑to‑large scale, complex projects, with the responsibility to deliver successful design outcomes on budget and within schedule. The Senior Project Architect balances technical requirements with the design vision and intent, taking ownership of the comprehensive study and documentation of the project during its development and execution. The position is responsible for communication, heightened design capability, and exact document execution. The Senior Project Architect drives collaboration and coordinates with a diverse internal and external project team, including client representatives, consultants, and contractors, maximizing the use of available resources.

Responsibilities
  • Plans and develops projects of medium to large scope and organizes, executes, and coordinates team assignments
  • Defines the scope, selection, and development of novel concepts and methods
  • Incorporates the overall design intent established by the Project Designer into detailed technical documentation according to standards, understands the design intent, and enhances the consistency and design quality as technical issues are resolved
  • Monitors the design process from the conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring the design idea is consistent and properly executed
  • Reports on the progress of assigned tasks during the schematic design, design development, and construction document phases; manages project team and reviews labor hours spent against budgeted labor estimates; monitors reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy and completeness
  • Communicates scope, schedule, costs, and budget requirements for each task
  • Ensures that construction detail documentation and drawings conform to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards
  • Coordinates the preparation of technical drawings and specifications
  • Regularly communicates with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews, and delivery of final presentation
  • Documents and writes reports to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions
  • Attends on‑site visits, participates in field reviews and project meetings, and coordinates the review of contractors’ schedules and submission of shop drawings
  • Prepares meeting minutes
  • Directs and reviews the work of the team, providing mentoring and development opportunities
  • Fosters a green workplace through sustainable work practices and incorporates sustainable design solutions into projects
  • May participate in business development opportunities
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
  • Professional license required
  • Environmental accreditation preferred
  • 15+ years of experience managing small to mid‑size architectural projects, including urban and resort hotels, mixed‑use and renovation projects
  • Proficiency in technical skills, including AutoCAD and 3D modeling software such as Rhino and SketchUp
  • Strong proficiency in Revit
  • Sketching skills required
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, integrated design, trends, construction methodology, QA/QC process, CA process, building codes
  • Experience in client management and negotiations
  • Effective project management skills, keeping within established deadlines and budgets
  • Works successfully in a team environment and has experience supervising teams
  • Manages multiple priorities of competing demand
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Travel may be required
