Job summary

Pyxera Global is seeking a New Mexico-based program manager to serve as the in-state point of contact for a statewide circular economy initiative. The role requires deep knowledge of NM ecosystems and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders from recyclers to Tribal entities.

The position involves site visits, convening workshops, and coordinating across partners to turn strategy into effective field implementation. Travel throughout NM is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in circular economy, recycling, or related field is required.
• Strong knowledge of New Mexico and stakeholders across the state.
• Ability to independently build relationships and coordinate multi-organization activities.
• Strong facilitation and communication skills; bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary New Mexico-based point person for project implementation.

• Build and manage relationships with recyclers, reuse organizations, authorities, agencies, Tribes, nonprofits, universities, and other partners.
• Convene and facilitate stakeholder meetings, interviews, workshops, and working sessions.
• Coordinate implementation among Pyxera Global, partners, and organizations.
• Identify operators, partners, and opportunities across New Mexico.
• Assist in assessing and improving collection, reuse, recycling and material routing systems.
• Track implementation, troubleshoot challenges, and assist with reporting and deliverables.
• Ensure statewide activities reflect NM’s urban, rural, frontier, and Tribal communities.

This position contingent is contingent upon award of funding

Pyxera Global (www.PyxeraGlobal.org), an NGO with offices around the world, through its work with the Circular Supply Chain Coalition (www.circularsupplychain.org), is seeking an experienced New Mexico-based program manager in connection with a proposal being submitted in response to a New Mexico Environment Department funding opportunity.

This person would serve as the primary in-state point of contact for the initiative, working directly with organizations and communities across New Mexico to turn project strategy into effective implementation.

We are looking for someone who already knows New Mexico and its circular economy ecosystem. The strongest candidate will be a known and trusted participant in the state’s recycling, reuse, resource recovery, solid waste, circular economy, sustainability, supply chain, or economic development community and bring relationships that allow them to engage effectively from the outset.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as the primary New Mexico-based point person for project implementation.
• Conduct regular site visits throughout the state.
• Build and manage relationships with recyclers, reuse organizations, solid waste authorities, businesses, state and local agencies, Tribal entities, nonprofits, universities, community organizations, and other partners.
• Convene and facilitate stakeholder meetings, interviews, workshops, and working sessions
• Coordinate implementation among Pyxera Global, technical partners, and partner organizations
• Identify promising operators, partners, resources, and opportunities across New Mexico
• Help assess existing collection, reuse, recycling, recovery, and material-routing systems and identify opportunities to improve them
• Track implementation, troubleshoot challenges, and support project reporting and deliverables
• Ensure statewide activities reflect the distinct realities of New Mexico’s urban, rural, frontier, and Tribal communities

What We’re Looking For

Required

• Professional experience in circular economy, recycling, reuse, solid waste, resource recovery, supply chains, sustainability, economic development, or a closely related field
• Strong knowledge of New Mexico and demonstrated experience working with stakeholders across the state
• Ability to independently build relationships and coordinate complex, multi-organization activities
• Strong facilitation and communication skills
• Professional proficiency in English and Spanish
• Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a personal vehicle
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout New Mexico

Highly Preferred

• An established professional network within New Mexico’s circular economy, recycling, resource recovery, reuse, waste management, or sustainability community.
• A reputation as a trusted practitioner, connector, or convener in the state
• Existing relationships with public agencies, local or Tribal governments, solid waste authorities, operators, community organizations, universities, or economic development entities
• Experience working with rural, frontier, and/or Tribal communities
• Experience with field implementation, technical assistance, site assessment, or operational improvement
• Fluency or conversational proficiency in one or more Indigenous or Tribal languages spoken in New Mexico.

Location and Travel

Candidates may live anywhere in New Mexico. No relocation is expected, and relocation expenses will not be provided.

Regular statewide travel is an important part of the position. Pre-approved work-related mileage and allowable vehicle expenses will be reimbursed, and approved lodging and other project travel expenses will be covered in accordance with applicable travel policies. Employees will not be expected to personally absorb approved project travel costs.

Funding and Selection Process

This position is contingent upon successful award of external funding.

Because key personnel must be identified as part of the funding application, Pyxera Global intends to identify a preferred candidate on an accelerated timeline. The finalist may be asked to provide a letter confirming their intent to accept the position should funding be awarded and mutually acceptable employment terms be finalized.
