Position Summary

Under direct supervision of the Tribal Administration Director, manages the day-to-day operation of the Senior Program. Plans, implements, and supervises senior nutrition and activities programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Senior Program; ensures maintenance and upkeep of program vehicles are maintained and updated.
  2. Plans, implements, and supervises a senior nutrition program that meets the Senior Nutrition Program requirements; assists in the preparation, packaging, and serving of meals.
  3. Coordinates and provides home delivery of meals in accordance with program policy.
  4. Responsible for menu planning and submission of weekly food orders; manages and maintains appropriate food inventory, responsible for receiving incoming orders/shipments, unloading and stocking inventory.
  5. Ensures compliance with all food service and health requirements established by Tribal, state sanitary, and safety regulations.
  6. Plans, coordinates, implements, and supervises culturally appropriate center-based, educational, health/fitness, social and recreational activities. Identifies and distributes nutrition/health information; prepares and distributes monthly menus and activities calendar.
  7. Identifies and coordinates with appropriate service providers to ensure health and social service needs of the elderly community are available. Makes appropriate referrals for services as needed.
  8. Performs outreach and recruitment activities to encourage eligible participants to begin, increase, and continue participation in center activities; promotes the center and all activities to the community.
  9. Responsible for supervision, orientation, and training of Senior Program team members. Conducts annual performance appraisals, ensures all safety procedures are adhered to in accordance with program policy, and ensures all safety certifications are obtained and updated as required.
  10. Prepares and maintains daily, weekly, monthly, and annual statistical and administrative reports; collects and maintains accurate service delivery logs, and assists in data collection as required.
  11. Conducts needs assessments on eligible participants annually, bi-annually, or as needed. Conducts home visits as required, maintains confidentiality of all registration and needs assessments of participants.
  12. Maintains effective working relationships with elderly participants, Senior Program team members, and all members of the general public. Maintains a positive and effective working environment.
  13. Participates in program directed training opportunities, pursues appropriate professional development plan, and attends all required meetings.
  14. Scans documents into the Records Management electronic system.
  15. Drafts, manages, and submits grant reports on state/federal grants as appropriate.
  16. Monitors, evaluates, responds, and resolves; concerns, problems, and/or complaints of participants.
  17. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned scheduled each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo Sandia.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Serves as back-up when cooks are unavailable.
  2. Performs other job-related duties as requested.

This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success. KPI’s will be shared with all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process.

Qualifications
Education and Experience

Required:

  1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  2. Two (2) years’ experience working in elderly services or social services.

Note: Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy education and/or work experience.

License/Certifications/Registrations
  1. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico driver’s license.
  2. Must complete the New Mexico Food Handlers course within 30 days of hire.
  3. Ability to obtain and maintain any other licenses and/or certifications as determined by management.
  4. Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation and character investigation in compliance with PL 101.630.
  5. Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Balancing

Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.

Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.

Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Seeing

The ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye.

Job requirements include, in the performance of duties, walking throughout the work area, on various work surfaces throughout internal or external locations.

The ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye.

Sitting

Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Standing

Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Stooping

Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.

Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

  1. Will require working odd and unusual hours with rotating shifts/weekend work.
  2. Duties are performed indoors and outdoors subject to inclement weather, sharp objects, cuts, and bruises.
  3. Subject to hazards such as infections, diseases, fumes, odors, and dust.
  4. Duties may involve walking on uneven, flat, muddy, and hard surfaces.
