Job summary

Boston University Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator to manage the undergraduate Health Science program operations and support the Public Health minor.

The role serves as the central point of contact for students, providing guidance on degree requirements, course offerings, and campus resources to support the program director and faculty in advising.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with 1–3 years of related professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create and disseminate the Health Science Program monthly newsletter.
  • Respond to day-to-day questions from students and faculty, directing to appropriate staff member.
  • Support faculty in processing student-requested letters of recommendation and exam accommodations.
  • Serve as advising coordinator for the Health Science Program, assigning incoming students to staff advisors and answering questions about current courses.
  • Provide general guidance about the program and its requirements, triaging student needs and concerns.
  • Foster a welcoming atmosphere that supports student, guest, and visitor satisfaction.
  • Serve as staff advisor to the Public Health Minor: meet with students and refer petitions to the Program Director.
  • Create and manage course waitlists and coordinate logistics for meetings.
  • Provide staffing and logistical support for required courses and coordinating events.
  • Design Your Life course scheduling and day-to-day coordination.
  • Manage program databases, compile statistics, and contribute to required reporting.
  • Lead development and maintenance of a comprehensive Health Science alumni database.
  • Coordinate with Marketing to share activities and provide content for program communications.
  • Partner with Career Development to plan events and programming for Health Science students.
  • Support Study Abroad and global/community engagement activities.
  • Coordinate faculty searches and candidate interviews.
  • Assist with additional program projects as assigned by the Program Director.

The Department of Health Sciences within Sargent College is dedicated to the sciences of human physiology, nutrition, and global public health. Together with a diverse community of students, research and clinical faculty, we are committed to improving people's lives through a variety of pathways involving clinical, applied, and basic sciences. The department's research, teaching and clinical centers address fundamental aspects of health sciences as well as innovations in clinical care. This Senior Program Coordinator position is responsible for managing a wide variety of professional and administrative systems specifically in support of the undergraduate Health Science program and the Public Health minor.

The role serves as the central point of contact for students and provide direct support regarding degree requirements, course offerings, and campus resources, to support the program director in both daily and annual operations of the program, and to support program faculty in student advising.

Responsibilities include:

  • Student orientation and advising for program curricular matters, support of program operations related to students, support of faculty in student-related matters, and maintenance of program databases and listservs.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and disseminate the Health Science Program monthly newsletter to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Respond to day-to-day questions from students and faculty, answering student emails or referring them to the appropriate faculty member.
  • Support faculty in processing student-requested letters of recommendation and facilitating exam accommodations.
  • Serve as advising coordinator for the Health Science Program, assigning incoming students to staff advisors and answering questions about current courses.
  • Provide general guidance about the program and its requirements, triaging student needs, questions, and concerns to the appropriate faculty member, advisor, or campus student-support office.
  • Foster a welcoming, engaging atmosphere that supports the success, belonging, and satisfaction of students, guests, and visitors.
  • Serve as staff advisor to the Public Health Minor: meet with students, respond to communications, review minor applications, and refer petitions for substitutions, waivers, and exceptions to the Program Director.
  • Create and manage course waitlists.
  • Coordinate logistics for faculty and student meetings, including scheduling, calendar invites, food orders, room setup, and clean-up.
  • Provide staffing and logistical support for the new required.
  • Designing Your Life course, including scheduling, materials, room setup, and day-to-day coordination throughout the term.
  • Manage program databases to maintain key student-related data and compile program statistics and contribute to required reporting.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of a comprehensive Health Science alumni database, gathering and organizing records and building it into an ongoing resource for tracking graduate outcomes, career placement, and alumni engagement.
  • Coordinate with the marketing team to share faculty and student activities, providing content and updates for program promotion and communications.
  • Partner with the Career Development office to develop, schedule, and coordinate career-related events, workshops, and programming for Health Science students.
  • Support global and community engagement activities, including Study Abroad, through answering student inquiries, maintaining student data, disseminating information about upcoming events and coordinating information sessions.
  • Coordinate faculty searches and candidate interviews.
  • Assist with additional program projects as assigned by the Program Director.
