Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in program controls, project controls, financial analysis, business analysis, or project accounting.
  • Experience supporting construction, industrial, engineering, or project-based organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare recurring financial, operational, and KPI reports for internal leadership and customers.
  • Analyze project budgets, actual costs, labor hours, profitability, equipment utilization, and other performance metrics.
  • Assist with project cost tracking and identify variances for review by the Manager, Program Controls.
  • Support monthly revenue, cost, and labor reporting activities.
  • Compile data for project forecasting and financial models.
  • Maintain reporting dashboards and reporting databases.
  • Prepare weekly labor hour reporting by project.
  • Compile monthly consumable spending reports.
  • Prepare detailed customer invoices and upload required documentation to customer portals.
  • Track and report customer value-added accomplishments.
  • Monitor project financial data for completeness and accuracy.
  • Identify reporting discrepancies and work with Operations to resolve issues.
  • Support month-end close activities through data validation and reporting.
  • Maintain project reporting documentation and records.
  • Assist with audits and customer requests for financial information.
  • Recommend improvements to reporting processes, templates, and workflows.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives led by the Manager, Program Controls.
  • Participate in professional development and required training.
  • Maintain knowledge of financial reporting practices and company systems.
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments.

Job Description

The Senior Program Controls Specialist is responsible for supporting the planning, tracking, analysis, and reporting of project and program financial and operational performance. This role compiles, analyzes, and maintains key performance indicators (KPIs), project cost data, customer reporting, and financial metrics to support operational decision-making. The Senior Specialist partners with Operations, Finance, and Project Management to ensure timely and accurate reporting while maintaining established program controls and compliance with customer requirements.

The position serves as a subject matter expert in program reporting and cost analysis and provides recommendations to the Manager, Program Controls for process improvements and reporting enhancements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare recurring financial, operational, and KPI reports for internal leadership and customers.

  • Identify reporting discrepancies and work with Operations to resolve issues.

Customer Reporting

  • Prepare monthly customer cost reports including project management, professional services, labor, subcontractors, and equipment costs.
  • Prepare monthly billing accruals in accordance with customer deadlines.
  • Compile and report project percent complete calculations.
  • Prepare weekly labor hour reporting by project.
  • Compile monthly consumable spending reports.
  • Prepare detailed customer invoices and upload required documentation to customer portals.
  • Track and report customer value-added accomplishments.

Program Controls Support

  • Monitor project financial data for completeness and accuracy.
  • Identify reporting discrepancies and work with Operations to resolve issues.
  • Support month-end close activities through data validation and reporting.
  • Maintain project reporting documentation and records.

Process Improvement

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Power Query, formulas, data analysis preferred).
  • Experience with ERP systems and reporting software preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements
