General Notes

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an organized and driven Program & Communications Coordinator for Texas Robotics. Texas Robotics is an interdisciplinary entity of 18 core robotics faculty from the Departments of Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering & Engineering Mechanics. Our research scope is broad, ranging across diverse areas such as surgical robotics, personal assistance robotics, automated driving, long-term autonomy, and nuclear robotics. Texas Robotics launched its Minor in Robotics in Fall 2023 and launched the first-of-its-kind Robotics Undergraduate Honors Program in Fall 2025.

Purpose

Lead communications, marketing, administrative, and programmatic needs for Texas Robotics.

Responsibilities
  • Marketing: Lead marketing for all of Texas Robotics including managing social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, BlueSky, Youtube), website updates, designing and printing digital and print invitations, announcements, event programs, flyers, building signage, templates, Texas Robotics program slide decks, brochures, faculty research 1 pagers, designing swag, graphic design, and branding needs. Work with external partners as needed for swag, website updates, etc.

  • Communications: Manage the robotics listservs, publicize Texas Robotics' participation at major robotics conferences, create post-event news articles, and maintain records of faculty publications & patents. Draft email communications, fall & spring newsletters, and presentations as needed. Collaborate with marketing teams in CS, ME, ECE, and ASE to ensure uniform branding and cross-departmental communications.

  • Administrative Support: Perform general administrative duties not limited to managing the central robotics email account, serving as the media asks, and scheduling meetings as needed for the Director and Managing Director. Front-line customer service and office hospitality management for Anna Hiss Gym.

  • Events: Help with event operations on the day of large events, annual impact reports, and robotics tours.

  • Supervision: Supervise the communications student employee to help manage social media platforms, graphic design, and photography. Assign tasks, provide regular feedback, help with goal-setting, and give clear communication about job expectations.

  • Perform other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years of full-time relevant work experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to think strategically and creatively, and work independently as well as on a team.

  • Be flexible and adaptable, as Texas Robotics is a growing organization.

  • Exceptional customer service, strong accuracy, and attention to detail.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs, Education, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Canva.

Salary Range

$62,000+ (depending on education and experience)

Working Conditions

Employment Eligibility

Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Retirement Plan Eligibility

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
