Job summary

Wesley Community Center in Houston, TX is seeking a part-time Senior Program Activities Assistant to support the Manager of Supportive Services in delivering daily senior programs, meals, and wellness activities. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily meal delivery and wellness initiatives while promoting healthy lifestyles and participant engagement.
  • Plan, organize, and support recreational, educational, social, and wellness activities, including exercise classes, workshops, events, and outings.
  • Maintain accurate participant records, attendance, meal counts, activity data, and program documentation for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Coordinate with volunteers, staff, and community partners to support meal service, activities, outreach, and special events.
  • Prepare rooms, materials, supplies, and equipment for programs and activities while maintaining sanitation, food safety, and cleanliness standards.
  • Greet participants, provide customer service and program information, encourage social interaction, and foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for seniors, volunteers, and staff.

Job Title:Senior Program Activities Assistant

Job Status: Part-time

Reports To: Manager of Supportive Services

Supervises: Does not supervise

Position Description:

The Senior Program Activities Assistant will assist the Manager of Supportive Services in carrying out the daily senior program activities. The Senior Program Activity Assistant must have an overall understanding of the Senior Congregate Meal Program and its requirements as dictated by the Texas Administrative Code.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist with daily meal delivery, and wellness initiatives while promoting healthy lifestyles and participant engagement.
  • Help plan, organize, and support recreational, educational, social, and wellness activities, including exercise classes, workshops, events, and outings.
  • Maintain accurate participant records, attendance, meal counts, activity data, and required program documentation for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Coordinate with volunteers, staff, and community partners to support meal service, activities, outreach, and special events.
  • Prepare rooms, materials, supplies, and equipment for programs and activities while maintaining sanitation, food safety, and cleanliness standards.
  • Greet participants, provide customer service and program information, encourage social interaction, and foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for seniors, volunteers, and staff.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Advocate for needs of clients through team meetings
  • Participate in regular professional development and training activities
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Obtain State of Texas Food Handler’s Certification (within 30 days of hire date)
  • Obtain CPR and First Aid Certification (within 30 days of hire date)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to write and speak clearly and informatively; Bilingual, English and Spanish-speaking required; Customer service oriented and able to effectively manage difficult or emotional client situations; Ability to work cooperatively and supports the team’s effort to succeed; Strong organizational skills

Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or GED

Work/Physical Requirements :

Ooccasionally required to sit, stand, climb or balance, crawl, stoop, kneel, crouch and walk to complete job duties. Employee will need to be able to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
