Job summary

Jonus Group seeks an experienced Professional Liability Claims Manager to oversee investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of complex E&O claims. This 100% remote role directs handling of high-exposure matters, mentors a team of claims professionals, and collaborates with brokers, insureds, and defense counsel to manage risk.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 10+ years of commercial insurance claims experience.
• 5+ years of direct experience handling Professional Liability and/or E&O claims.
• Experience managing complex, litigated, high-severity claims.
• Strong understanding of insurance coverage analysis and policy interpretation.
• Proven leadership experience, including supervision, mentoring, or management of claims professionals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
• Experience with specialty professional liability programs such as Architects & Engineers, Insurance Agents E&O, Lawyers Professional Liability, Accountants Professional Liability, Technology E&O, or Miscellaneous Professional Liability preferred.
• Professional designations such as CPCU, RPLU, AIC, ARM, SCLA, or equivalent preferred.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the handling of complex and high-exposure professional liability claims.
• Evaluate coverage, liability, damages, and exposure per policy terms.
• Establish and maintain claim reserves based on evolving facts and exposure analysis.
• Oversee investigation strategies and support timely and effective claim resolution.
• Manage litigated claims including defense counsel and legal expenses.
• Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and other dispute resolution proceedings.
• Lead, mentor, and develop claims professionals handling professional liability matters.
• Conduct claim file reviews to support technical quality and adherence to claims practices.
• Establish performance expectations and support employee development through coaching and training.
• Manage claims inventory and support operational performance objectives.
• Monitor reserve adequacy and contribute to financial forecasting activities.
• Analyze claim trends and recommend process improvements.
• Build productive relationships with insureds, brokers, defense counsel, and internal business partners.
• Provide reporting to senior leadership regarding significant claim activity.
• Partner with underwriting and other stakeholders to identify emerging claim trends and loss drivers.
