Senior Production Engineer, Process Improvement (2 openings) - Savannah - MNAe

  1. PE Systems (Richmond Hill location)
  2. Battery System Assembly-BSA2 (Ellabell location)

The role of this position is to provide leadership to all operations in the PE systems or BSA production departments. This requires close coordination and communication with Production, Maintenance, and Headquarters to ensure that production operations meet internal and external customer requirements.

MOBIS North America Electrified Powertrain, LLC. (MNAe) is a Tier 1 supplier of BSA (Battery System Assembly) and PE systems (Motor, Decelerator, and Inverter), which are key components for producing electric vehicles, utilizing state-of-the-art manufacturing technology related to battery system assembly.

Established on October 7, 2022, MNAe operates the BSA1 plant in Montgomery County, Alabama, and the BSA2 plant and PE system plant in Bryan County, Georgia, supplying parts for over 1,300 vehicles daily. The company supplies BSA and PE systems to three major hubs of the HMG Group in North America: 1) Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), 2) Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA), and 3) KIA Auto-land Georgia (KaGA).

Essential Functions

  • Develop and maintain engineering documents such as Work Standards, Control Plans, PFMEA, Work Instructions, etc.
  • Monitor daily production efficiency and implement activities to meet KPIs.
  • Ensure product and process quality meet required specifications.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency through analysis and planning of production processes, logistics flow, and equipment layout.
  • Support and lead continuous improvement, problem solving, and process improvement activities.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, cycle times, and downtime.
  • Ensure adherence to standard processes for data collection, documentation, and reporting.
  • Generate and execute ideas for cost reduction, labor savings, material flow, and safety improvements.
  • Communicate with relevant departments such as QA, Maintenance, Research, HQ, and Business Services to resolve issues.
  • Ensure production teams utilize standardized work practices across shifts and areas.
  • Review process machine and tooling specifications and confirm manufacturing specifications.
  • Support training for production staff on product and process.
  • Comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
  • Identify and implement technical solutions to optimize the production process.
  • Maintain and enhance product quality through process improvements.
  • Integrate automation and robotics technologies to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Develop methods to minimize raw material and energy usage for cost efficiency.
  • Research and incorporate latest technologies and industry trends into manufacturing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Contribute to building a smart factory.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of production engineering experience in the automotive industry.
  • Ability to create drawings using CAD software; experience with Autodesk preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with PLC programming or machine design drawing.
  • Bilingual (English/Korean) is preferred but not required.
