Job summary

Zscaler is seeking a Sr. Production Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure & Operations team. The role supports a hybrid work model in San Jose, CA or Remote, reporting to Production Engineering, driving an automation-first culture across a global platform handling 200+ billion transactions daily.

You will shape observability, MTTR, and scalability while maintaining highly available, multi-cloud infrastructure in AWS, GCP, and bare-metal environments. Excellent problem-solving required.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of reliability, scalability, and availability for large-scale production services.
• Deep programming expertise in Python, Go, or C/C++.
• Strong networking, Linux/RHEL, and distributed architecture knowledge.
• Experience in high-stakes incident management and 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Proficiency with ITIL frameworks and incident data for problem management.

Responsibilities

• Implement highly available, scalable infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and bare-metal environments.
• Drive automation by writing code to eliminate toil and build self-healing systems.
• Implement observability, define SLIs/SLOs, and establish error budgets.
• Act as lead Incident Commander and develop response playbooks.
• Partner with Engineering to conduct operability reviews.
