Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Senior Production Control Specialist opportunity in Cape Canaveral, FL. The role focuses on cleaning up backlog, expediting hot jobs, and ensuring data integrity in ERP/MRP systems to keep schedule execution on track.

Responsibilities include driving backlog reduction, supporting off-nominal shift coverage, and collaborating with the FTE PC team across service centers. This is a contract position with a pay rate of $70–$85 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience with schedule management, expediting, or backlog cleanup in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Costpoint, or similar).
• Ability to work independently in a high-tempo, high-ambiguity environment.
• Willingness to support off-nominal shifts (B/C/D) as gaps arise.

• Execute targeted expedite efforts on hot jobs and identify material/kits to prevent schedule slips.
• Provide off-nominal shift coverage and handle escalations to keep WIP moving.
• Maintain MRP/ERP data integrity and communicate backlog status daily.
• Flag blockers and communicate with area leads rather than bypassing signals.
• Partner with the FTE PC team and support other work centers when backlog is clear.

Job Title: Senior Production Control Specialist

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Senior Production Control Specialist with our client located in Cape Canaveral, FL.

Job Description: The Production Control team is scaling to meet an increase in work order volume to support rate production. This role is a dedicated surge and clean-up function that supports our core team of FTE Production Control Specialists. This person will attack the backlog debt (aged/idle work orders, MRP data integrity, kitted parts trapped in stalled orders), own day-to-day work-center coverage where required, and provide expedite muscle and off-nominal shift support so our FTE PCs can stay focused on schedule execution. If you like solving a large, messy backlog with clear metrics and a defined end date, this is built for that.

Job Responsibilities

• Drive down the work-order backlog: dispositioning idle/no-need-date orders, resolving kitted-but-stalled part numbers, and closing out orders.
• Execute targeted expedite efforts on hot jobs — identifying material and kit needs, and blockers across service centers and integrated areas to prevent schedule slip.
• Provide off-nominal shift (B/C/D) coverage support as needed, handling routine escalations and keeping WIP moving when FTE coverage is thin.
• Maintain MRP/ERP data integrity Communicate daily status on backlog burn-down, expedite jobs in flight, and any shift hand-offs to the PC leads and escalation chat.
• Flag constraints or recurring blockers discovered during clean-up work to area leads and PC leadership rather than resolving informally and losing the signal.
• Partner with the FTE PC team and, where needed, carry standing work-center ownership -When backlog is clear, this role will support other work centers while sustaining minimal technical debt in assigned work center.

Job Qualifications

• Experience with schedule management, expediting, or backlog/data clean-up in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Costpoint, or similar) — comfortable working directly in the data, not just reading dashboards.
• Ability to work independently on a defined backlog with minimal ramp-up, in a high-tempo, high-ambiguity environment.
• Willingness and availability to support off-nominal shifts (B/C/D) as coverage gaps arise.

Desired Job Qualifications

• Prior experience specifically doing backlog remediation, data cleanup, or expedite work (not just steady-state scheduling).
• Familiarity with MS Office, including MS Project.
• Familiarity with Jira/ITS and AI tools
• Experience in both development and production manufacturing environments.
• Aerospace or automotive production experience a plus.
