Job summary

TaxSlayer, headquartered in Augusta, GA, is seeking a Senior Security Engineer – Product Security to partner with software teams across the SDLC to embed security in development and drive risk reduction.

The role combines hands-on security testing, threat modeling, and managing the company's bug bounty program, with a hybrid schedule in Augusta (on-site two days) and remote options for eligible states. Suitable candidates bring 5+ years in application security and strong collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, CS, IT, or related field, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years in application security, product security, or security engineering.
• Experience partnering with software development teams to embed security in the lifecycle.
• Experience identifying vulnerabilities in web apps, APIs, and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary security contact for Development teams, participating in sprint planning and design reviews.
• Review features, designs, APIs, authentication, and third-party integrations to identify risks.
• Integrate security controls early in the SDLC and promote secure coding practices.
• Conduct secure code reviews, threat modeling, and architecture risk assessments.
• Perform hands-on testing and coordinate third-party testing as needed.
• Manage SAST, DAST, and CI/CD security tooling and processes.
• Track vulnerabilities through remediation with engineering teams.
• Own day-to-day administration of the bug bounty program and triage findings.
• Support audits and compliance activities (PCI DSS, SOC 2, IRS security requirements).
• Mentor engineers on secure coding, threat modeling, and product security best practices.
