Summary

The Senior Product Marketing Manager (Sr. PMM) is an expert-level individual contributor responsible for shaping go-to‑market strategy, market positioning, and commercial growth across Q2's Commercial Digital Banking, Treasury Management, and Payments solutions.

This role requires a unique combination of deep commercial banking domain expertise and advanced product marketing leadership. The ideal candidate understands the evolving needs of banks, credit unions, and their commercial customers, including business banking, treasury operations, cash management, payments modernization, and the technologies transforming how financial institutions serve commercial clients.

As a senior strategic partner to Product, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success leadership, the Sr. PMM translates complex commercial banking capabilities into differentiated market narratives, buyer-centric value propositions, and revenue‑accountable go‑to‑market strategies.

Beyond direct product line ownership, this role serves as an expert-level contributor and force multiplier within Q2's Product Marketing organization, elevating positioning and messaging quality, mentoring peers, and strengthening cross‑functional GTM execution.

The successful candidate brings credibility with commercial banking executives, treasury management leaders, and technology decision‑makers, with the ability to connect market trends, customer needs, competitive dynamics, and product innovation to measurable business outcomes.

Responsibilities

Market Intelligence & GTM Strategy

  • Analyze commercial banking market dynamics, treasury technology investment priorities, payments trends, and competitive offerings to inform segmentation, growth opportunities, and GTM investments.
  • Develop and own GTM strategy for Commercial Digital Banking, Treasury Management, and Payments solutions, including prioritization, audience architecture, launch sequencing, and success metrics that integrate with broader demand generation programs.
  • Track regulatory trends, fintech disruption signals, and buyer evolution in commercial banking to inform annual GTM planning; share frameworks and playbooks that help peers build market‑aligned, revenue‑accountable strategies.
Commercial Banking, Treasury & Payments Domain Leadership
  • Serve as a commercial banking subject matter expert within Product Marketing, bringing deep knowledge of commercial digital banking, treasury management, cash management, and payments ecosystems to Q2’s product and go‑to‑market strategies.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the commercial banking technology landscape, including digital banking platforms, treasury management systems, payment processing infrastructure, ERP connectivity, and embedded financial services.
  • Translate the needs of commercial banking customers, including small and midsize businesses, middle‑market companies, large enterprises, and financial institutions, into differentiated positioning, segmentation strategies, and buyer‑centric messaging.
  • Monitor and interpret trends shaping commercial banking, including real‑time and instant payments (RTP and FedNow), ACH modernization, wire transfers, ISO 20022, open banking, API connectivity, fraud prevention, and evolving commercial treasury expectations.
  • Understand commercial banking buyer dynamics, including the priorities and decision‑making processes of bank executives, commercial banking leaders, treasury management officers, product executives, technology leaders, and commercial relationship managers.
  • Partner closely with Commercial Banking Product Management to connect market intelligence, customer feedback, competitive differentiation, and emerging industry opportunities to product roadmap priorities and investment decisions.
  • Develop compelling value propositions and go‑to‑market strategies that improve operational efficiency, strengthen commercial relationships, accelerate payments, expand fee income, and drive deposit growth and retention.
  • Serve as a credible market‑facing representative for Q2, engaging with commercial banking customers, industry analysts, strategic partners, and executive audiences to articulate Q2’s commercial banking vision and competitive advantages.
Positioning & Messaging
  • Develop differentiated positioning for commercial digital banking, treasury management, and payments solutions that connects technical capabilities to financial institution and commercial customer outcomes; ensure messaging passes the “could this be a competitor?” test.
  • Build and maintain ICPs and personas for commercial banking buyers; keep them current as market conditions evolve.
  • Translate complex technology concepts into clear, differentiated messaging that resonates with target buyers, analysts, and senior stakeholders.
Analyst Relations & Thought Leadership
  • Establish Q2’s point of view on the future of commercial banking, treasury modernization, payments innovation, and the evolving relationship between financial institutions and business customers.
  • Own analyst engagement for commercial solutions and ensure Q2 is consistently represented in key analyst evaluations (Forrester Waves, Gartner Magic Quadrants, IDC MarketScapes).
  • Create foundational thought leadership content (white papers, executive briefs, industry POVs) that articulates Q2’s vision and differentiates the commercial portfolio.
Launch Governance & Enablement
  • Lead launch strategy and readiness for commercial banking and payments releases, applying Q2’s launch tiering and readiness standards and running pre‑and post‑launch reviews.
  • Equip commercial banking sales and customer‑facing teams with segment‑specific value propositions, competitive intelligence, buyer insights, and solution narratives that support complex enterprise sales cycles.
  • Run win/loss analysis for commercial solutions and connect field intelligence to GTM strategy and the product roadmap; track enablement performance against pipeline and revenue goals.
Executive Presence & Events
  • Represent Q2 as a commercial banking thought leader at industry conferences, executive briefings, customer advisory boards, and strategic commercial banking forums.
  • Deliver compelling stage demos and breakout presentations at Tier 1 events and large sales forums; serve as senior CONNECT track owner for commercial content.
  • Stand in for VP‑level leadership at Product Council sessions and top EBR engagements.
Cross‑Functional Leadership
  • Build strong partnerships with commercial banking product leaders, treasury specialists, payments experts, sales executives, and customer‑facing teams to align GTM strategy with market opportunities.
  • Act as lead for commercial customer engagement strategy, including customer selection and advocate programs; define marketing performance KPIs for commercial solutions.
AI Fluency & Innovation
  • Apply AI tools across positioning, enablement, launch, and research workflows; share best practices and guardrails for sensitive use cases and data privacy with the PMM team.
Experience And Knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Finance, or a related field with a minimum of 12 years of relevant professional experience, including significant experience in product marketing, go‑to‑market strategy, or commercial banking technology; MBA or advanced degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent related work experience.
  • Demonstrated commercial banking domain expertise, with direct experience in commercial digital banking, treasury management, cash management, payments, or related financial technology solutions.
  • Strong understanding of how financial institutions serve commercial customers, including business banking, commercial treasury operations, payments workflows, and the needs of small business, middle‑market, and enterprise banking segments.
  • Working knowledge of commercial banking products and services, including ACH, wires, real‑time payments, liquidity and cash management, account services, and commercial payment capabilities.
  • Proven ability to translate complex banking technologies and financial workflows into differentiated market positioning, compelling value propositions, and effective go‑to‑market strategies.
  • Experience developing and executing GTM strategies for complex B2B technology products, ideally selling to financial institutions or commercial banking organizations.
  • Understanding of financial institution buying processes, commercial banking decision‑makers, and the relationship between technology investments, operational efficiency, deposit growth, and revenue generation.
  • Demonstrated success developing positioning frameworks, launch strategies, competitive intelligence, and sales enablement programs that influence pipeline and revenue performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior executives and engage credibly with commercial banking and technology leaders.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with demonstrated experience translating market insights and competitive intelligence into product and GTM decisions.
  • Experience mentoring product marketing talent, leading cross‑functional initiatives, or elevating organizational marketing practices.
