Description
Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) is looking for an seasoned product manager and disruptive thinker to help us define the vision and strategy for block storage on AWS. As a member of the team you'll work alongside engineers and leaders to develop and operate one of the largest distributed systems in the world.
In this position, you will define product requirements, business and go-to-market strategy, and pricing for a set of critical new EBS features, while tirelessly champion the needs of our customers. This role will require coordination across many internal and external teams and will be visible at the highest levels of the company. You’ll work with our customers, partners, and operational stakeholders to prioritize roadmap features, and lead the definition of new capabilities through expertly crafted PR/FAQs.
A successful candidate must have exceptional problem solving skills, strong business judgment, and demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams. We are looking for a proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically, and someone with creative vision who is excited to take on new, ambiguous, and disruptive projects that will be industry-defining. This position requires a solid technical background and strong analytical skills. You must be genuinely passionate about solving problems for customers and excited about cloud technologies, and be able to communicate your ideas clearly verbally and in writing. Past experience in with large-scale SaaS applications is helpful, but not required.
Key job responsibilities

  • Defining products by working backwards from the needs of different customer segments / jobs-to-be-done
  • Managing the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical execution
  • Establishing goals and analyzing metrics and product usage data to identify opportunities and deliver success
  • Leading user research projects to identify new opportunities to innovate on behalf of our customers
  • Working closely with engineering to make prioritization and tradeoff decisions
  • Defining the vision, product strategy and roadmap for our products and working with key stakeholders in the company to deliver on that vision, e.g. sales, partner teams, international site leaders, etc.
  • Pricing new features and products
  • Responsible for the go-to-market plan and enablement, working to ensure that sales, SAs, and our partner teams have what they need to be successful
A day in the life
Your day might start with a couple of calls with a startup, then large international Enterprise customer who you have selected to interview about pain points in a feature area you're researching. You have a loosely-held hypothesis, but you want to deeply understand the customers' use cases and unique challenges. You then meet with the Director of Engineering to discuss product roadmap and resource allocation. Mid-morning, you collaborate with product marketing and business development on go-to-market strategies. After lunch, you have blocked off a couple hours to analyze product usage data to confirm/disconfirm one of your hypotheses and work on the PR/FAQ for the feature. Your day ends with preparation for a strategy meeting with our VP on how we grow the business, then you trot off to happy hour with some of your PM colleagues.
