Location: McLean, VA | Work Model: On-site (5 days/week)

Transform complex technical challenges into seamless customer solutions and own the lifecycle of core platform capabilities powering AI automation for the world's largest enterprises.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Appian Product Management function is responsible for the creation, refinement, and scaling of products and services that power our global platform. Operating at the intersection of business strategy and cutting‑edge engineering, our team transforms complex technical challenges into seamless customer solutions. We build the mission‑critical core capabilities that enable AI‑Powered Process Automation for the world’s most regulated and sophisticated enterprises and governments.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Why should an ambitious product professional join Appian right now? This role offers an exceptional opportunity to manage the complete product lifecycle within a high‑velocity, collaborative environment. You will not just be managing a backlog; you will be the strategic bridge connecting engineering, design, and go‑to‑market functions to bring innovative capabilities to life. If you thrive on analyzing user feedback, defining product specifications, and directing cross‑functional product launches within the AI automation market, this position will accelerate your career growth under our Enterprise‑Grade Orchestration model.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Lead Collaborative Discovery: Work closely with stakeholders in sales, marketing, and professional services, and understand market demand to generate and get buy‑in on product vision and priorities.

Drive Execution: Operate as the dedicated Product Owner within an Agile squad; frame feature needs with clarity, help shape technical solutions, and prioritize feature increments to ensure high‑quality software delivery.

Own Cross‑Functional Design: Collaborate closely with engineers and UX designers to map out exactly how features work, demonstrating advanced design judgment and reviewing feature increments at sprint milestones.

Track Lifecycle Metrics: Track the adoption and usage of new features, applying advanced analytics and data‑driven product metrics to evaluate market impact and manage ongoing feature optimization.

Govern Feature Rollouts: Take end‑to‑end ownership of capabilities through final technical documentation, internal product enablement, bug prioritization, and external market readiness.

Foster Product Mentorship: Serve as an exemplary model across the department, regularly sharing domain expertise and mentoring junior product managers on product craftsmanship.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a strictly related technical field. (Equivalent experience is not accepted in lieu of a degree.)

Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in Product Management, ideally within a technical, platform, or core infrastructure domain.

Technical & Analytical Depth: A strong technical background with a deep understanding of enterprise software concepts and the ability to perform complex comparative analyses between competing architectures.

AI & LLM Fluency: Proven fluency in AI and Large Language Models (LLMs), encompassing both the strategic development of intelligent platform capabilities and the hands‑on application of AI tools to accelerate daily product workflows.

Resolution Focus: A data‑driven problem solver who uses metrics and clear logic to navigate technical trade‑offs and build team alignment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience managing APIs, enterprise system integrations, or foundational cloud infrastructure layers.

We value experience with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce or ServiceNow, as these skills translate well into our Enterprise‑Grade Orchestration environment.

Prior experience designing systems that use agentic AI to accelerate user productivity.
