Job summary

Planet is seeking a Senior Product Manager for Defense & Intelligence to bridge Planet's shared platform with D&I solutions. You will translate defense workflows into platform specs, enable robust APIs, and guide delivery across field and Forward Deployed Engineering teams.

This is a hybrid role with in-person days in San Francisco or Arlington. You’ll influence the roadmap, balance multiple priorities, and evolve the vertical strategy to align with defense procurement models and operational

Qualifications

• 6+ years of technical product management bridging core platform teams and field engineering.
• Understanding of geospatial data platforms, cloud architectures, APIs and extension layers.
• Experience with analytics/ML pipelines in defense or intelligence contexts.
• Ability to separate generalizable platform capabilities from one-off customizations.
• Background in geospatial intelligence, satellite tasking/monitoring, remote sensing, or defense tech.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Forward Deployed Engineers to translate field challenges into durable platform capabilities.
• Prioritize mission requirements for the shared GMS/MDA platform and defend against scope creep.
• Drive vertical product strategy by evolving capabilities into packaged offerings aligned with defense procurement.
• Contribute to the product roadmap with cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, sales, and PM.
