Job description

Please Note: This is a remote position available in the state listed on this job. Additionally, employment with BambooHR is contingent on passing both a background and credit check.

AI at BambooHR

At BambooHR, we're all about setting people free to do great work, and we believe AI is a powerful partner in that mission. We're leaning into intelligent tools to streamline our workflows, giving us more time for high-impact innovation. We look for curious, forward-thinking people who are ready to explore how AI can elevate their work and help us reimagine the future of HR.

We're looking for a Sr. Product Manager to own the discovery layer for all of our platform data, and the program that makes every product domain consumable by AI. Our canonical data model defines what the data is. This role makes it findable, documented, quality-scored, and safe for an AI agent to consume.

Every AI feature we ship gets faster or slower based on how well you do this job. On a typical day you might onboard a domain team to the catalog, review an agent-readiness assessment against the bar the program sets, and decide which domains migrate next based on where AI features are blocked.

You Will:

  • Own the data catalog as a product: domain onboarding, metadata and documentation standards, data quality signals, and a search and discovery experience that works for internal builders and AI agents.
  • Run our AI-ready domain program, including the assessment bar, the migration sequence, and the dated plan that takes every product domain to a state AI agents can consume.
  • Sequence catalog population by consumption demand, so the domains AI features need first get onboarded first.
  • Partner with the owner of our canonical data model so catalog entries conform to its entity definitions instead of inventing parallel ones.
  • Own readiness measurement: publish per-domain readiness status that leadership can act on, and hold the line that "assessed" and "ready" are different states.
  • Own the context and signal surfaces that agents draw on as they move from proof-of-concept to platform capabilities, including the standards for which signals agents may use.
  • Work with legal and security counterparts on data classification, consent boundaries, and what AI agent consumption of each domain requires.

Success in the First 180 Days

  • Complete catalog onboarding for the leading domains on our readiness assessment list, with documented quality signals.
  • Publish a readiness scoreboard that shows every domain, its state, its blocker, and its date.
  • Establish a domain onboarding playbook so domain teams can onboard to the catalog themselves, without needing you.
  • Deliver the first dated batch of domain migrations on the path to migrating every product domain.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • You feel aligned with the BambooHR values.
  • 5+ years of product management experience in data platforms, data infrastructure, developer tools, or adjacent technical products.
  • Technical depth in metadata, data contracts, or data quality. You can read a schema, challenge a readiness claim, and tell documentation from documentation theater.
  • Program instincts: you're comfortable running a multi-team migration with a scoreboard, dates, and named owners.
  • Proven ability to drive alignment across teams without direct authority.
  • You can drive readiness work in domain teams that own the roadmap you depend on but not the outcome you're accountable for.
  • You hold the quality bar when the pressure is always to mark domains "ready" faster.
  • You can build for two consumers at once: human builders who need discovery and documentation, and AI agents that need machine-readable contracts and guardrails.
  • You can explain a readiness decision clearly and directly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-directed and entrepreneurial: you identify the next constraint without waiting for direction.

What Will Make Us REALLY Love You

  • Experience with data catalogs, governance tooling, or master data management.
  • Exposure to AI and large language model (LLM) feature development, and what makes data usable by agents in practice.
  • Product experience with graph or relationship-querying capabilities.
  • Comprehensive health, life, and disability insurance
  • Generous leave policies that include 4 weeks of vacation, 12 company holidays, parental leave, and volunteer time off so you can enjoy quality of life
