General Function

Manage the Bank's private student loan products to ensure that ELFI consistently invests in the highest-value products and opportunities for our customers and our business, delivered through a seamless, state-of-the-art loan origination system and processes. Serve as the bridge between customers, business strategy, technology, and execution in order to transform customer insights, market opportunities, and business objectives into a prioritized roadmap that enables our engineering teams to build the right technical solutions. Provide product management oversight to create repeatable decision-making frameworks and bring a disciplined approach to customer discovery, to prioritization, and to product success measurement.

Essential Functions
Customer Discovery
  • Develop and own the customer discovery process, engaging directly with customers to understand problems, unmet needs, and opportunities in student lending.
  • Advocate for a culture where customer evidence informs product decisions before development begins.
  • Validate product ideas before significant investment, translating customer insights into product opportunities and roadmap recommendations.
Product Ownership
  • Own the product strategy for the ELFI business, ensuring investments align with company objectives and customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain the product roadmap, translating business strategy into actionable product initiatives.
  • Prioritize product investments using customer evidence, business value, technical feasibility, organizational capacity, budgetary information, and other guidance as needed.
  • Evaluate new product opportunities and recommend where the organization should invest.
  • Define product success metrics and use product analytics to evaluate performance and to inform future investment decisions.
  • Represent ELFI on platform development efforts to ensure consistent customer experience.
  • Collaborate with Management, Legal, and Compliance on audits, reviews, issue remediation, and regulatory responses. Provide reports and information as required.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner closely with the Bank's development team and external technology consultants to translate product priorities into clear requirements, prioritization, and delivery.
  • Build alignment across Digital Solutions, Data & Analytics, Marketing, Operations, and business leadership.
  • Clearly communicate product strategy, roadmap priorities, tradeoffs, and progress to Bank executive leadership.
  • Serve as the liaison between customers, the business, and Digital Solutions to ensure teams are solving the highest-value problems.
Compliance
  • Review the Bank's information security guidelines regularly and avoid activity that could expose the Bank to malware, scams, and fraud. Follow all guidelines for securing your accounts, access, systems, and information. Be proactive in identifying threats to information security and relay concerns to the Bank's information security team.
  • Diligently protect confidential information and assist the Bank in ensuring that all confidential and sensitive information is handled appropriately.
  • Maintain an active awareness and understanding of policies, procedures, designated authorities, regulations, and laws, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, Red Flags, Consumer Privacy, Fair Lending, other applicable lending laws for student lending and ensure compliance at all times.
  • Communicate openly with supervisors and other management about policies, procedures, work conduct, and job functions. Seek clarification of any compliance matter with the Bank's Compliance and Legal departments.
  • Participate in training sessions and policy updates as necessary. Assist with coordination of scheduling as appropriate.

Requirements
  • Required: 5+ years of Product Management experience leading customer-facing digital products.
  • Preferred: Experience in financial services, lending, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Preferred: Experience launching new products or improving existing customer experiences.
  • Preferred: Experience with financial technology online lending and loan origination systems and platform development.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with product analytics, and modern product development practices and the tools needed to do these effectively.
  • Preferred: Master's degree
