Job summary

Dow is seeking a Counsel in its Litigation group. The preferred location is Midland, MI, with Houston, TX also considered. You will manage litigation for Dow and affiliates, including asbestos personal injury and product liability matters, and oversee external counsel.

Qualified candidates have a JD or LLM, at least 7 years of practice, bar admission, and willingness to travel up to 25% annually. Domestic relocation assistance is available.

Qualifications

• Juris doctor or Master of Laws.
• Minimum of 7 years practicing as an attorney.
• Admission to State Bar or eligible for admission.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% annually for business needs.
• Must be able to work legally in the United States (no visa sponsorship).

Responsibilities

• Independently provide legal counsel to clients.
• Provide client legal training and education on various topics.
• Review and draft legal documents.
• Actively manage external counsel and experts.
• Collaborate with internal legal subject matter experts and other Company resources.
• Oversee paralegals and administrative staff in the Legal Department and coordinate with business and functional clients concerning discovery.
• Establish and monitor expense budgets.
• Set strategic direction for each case and docket.
• Develop and implement settlement strategies.
• Communicate proactively to Legal Department management and clients.
• Participate directly in key depositions, hearings and trials.
• Oversee appellate issues.
