Job summary

Clear Destination Inc. is seeking a Sr. Product Development Engineer to drive innovation from concept through commercialization in the plastics space.

You will lead cross-functional teams, generate new product ideas, and evaluate market trends to fuel growth. The role requires 2+ years in mechanical engineering, Six Sigma expertise, and strong CAD/Solid modeling skills. You will partner with production, design, and quality teams, file IP protections, and travel to manufacturing sites as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Proven experience (2+ years) in mechanical engineering, preferably in plastic manufacturing or a related industry.
• Proven experience in new product development within the consumer goods industry, focusing on plastic bags or related products.
• Strong proficiency in Six Sigma methodologies and statistical analysis tools.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proficient in CAD and solid modeling software.
• IP management experience, including filing for patents and conducting patent searches.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites (10% - 40% travel, international travel possible).

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of new products for consumer product businesses from concept to commercialization.
• Coordinate brainstorming sessions to generate innovative product ideas addressing consumer needs.
• Analyze consumer, market, and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and growth.
• Attend trade shows and industry events to stay informed about trends and technologies.
• Evaluate and integrate new mechanical technologies and equipment into production lines.
• Assess existing mechanical designs for plastics manufacturing systems and recommend improvements.
• Develop prototypes and conduct ROI analyses to evaluate feasibility and scalability.
• Identify opportunities for process automation, energy efficiency, and cost reduction.
• Actively file for IP protection of innovative ideas for new products; perform patent searches.
• Use Six Sigma and data-driven analysis to improve processes and product quality.
• Collaborate with design engineers, production managers, and quality control to align with goals.
• Manage multiple projects from idea to launch with timely execution.
• Communicate status, risks, and milestones to stakeholders and address issues.
• Travel to manufacturing sites 10%–40% as needed for trials.
• Perform other duties to support organizational objectives.
