Senior Product Engineer – Nuclear

Mueller Water Products, Inc. invites applications for a Senior Product Engineer – Nuclear to join the Nuclear Program at our Kimball, TN facility. The senior engineer will design, approve, and mentor the development of valves for nuclear power plants, ensuring compliance with ASME, NRC, and industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Process and approve nuclear orders, including the preparation and approval of drawings, models, design reports, and owner specification reviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on design, analysis, and verification tasks.
  • Certify design reports and final reviews of ASME Section III Design Reports for Class 2 & 3 components.
  • Conduct engineering analysis of Butterfly Valves NPS 3 to over 100” for stress, deformation, static seismic, and FEA in ANSYS to support design.
  • Perform design verification using design reviews, alternate calculations, and qualification testing.
  • Maintain training records and ensure continuing education as required by State Board and ASME.
  • Lead the team of drafters and engineers, checking outputs including drawings, BOMs, design reports, calculation verification, and validation.
Qualifications & Skills
  • 4+ years of design experience in valves for power plant and nuclear industry.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Section III (BPVC), NRC requirements, and related codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PTC Creo, ANSYS, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with AWWA, MSS, ASTM standards, and nuclear audits.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
Required Education / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field.
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license to perform Certifying Engineer functions, or a defined plan to attain within 12 months.
Physical Requirements
  • Stationary or standing position for prolonged periods, with ability to repeat gross or fine manipulation, lift up to 25 lbs, reach overhead or below shoulder level, stoop, crouch, or kneel as needed.
