Job description

Position Overview

International Motors is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to play a critical role in supporting all stages of a product's lifecycle, including product development, modifications, upgrades, maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams across the plant and broader organization to ensure product performance, quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

As a central technical resource, you will work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Testing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Marketing teams to successfully transition products from concept through production, launch, distribution, and ongoing field support.

This position offers the opportunity to influence product strategy, drive engineering excellence, and contribute to the successful delivery of innovative solutions that support International Motors' business objectives.

As International Motors continues to grow in San Antonio, we are expanding our production operations with the introduction of a night production shift. The night shift is Monday through Thursday from 5:30 PM to 4:00 AM, with production planned to begin in early 2027. This is a salaried position supporting a manufacturing operation. While the primary schedule aligns with the designated production shift, employees are expected to provide operational support as needed to meet business objectives. This may require working outside normal production hours, including extended shifts, production startup activities, recovery efforts, and occasional weekend support based on operational requirements.

Shift Differential: 10% differential upon transitioning to Night Shift work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support all phases of the product lifecycle, including design, development, validation, launch, production support, maintenance, and end-of-life activities.
  • Serve as the primary engineering resource for assigned products and product lines, ensuring performance, quality, reliability, and cost objectives are achieved.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Testing, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Marketing to drive successful product execution.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve product design, manufacturing, and field performance issues through structured root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Develop, review, and release engineering documentation, including specifications, drawings, bills of materials, engineering change notices, and test plans.
  • Support product validation and verification activities to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Lead product improvement initiatives focused on quality, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost reduction.
  • Analyze product performance data, warranty information, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate engineering changes and ensure effective implementation across manufacturing and supply chain operations.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing plants, suppliers, internal stakeholders, and customers as needed.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and problem-solving activities to ensure robust product development.
  • Support new product introduction activities, ensuring smooth transitions from development into production.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute technical expertise to cross-functional project teams.
  • Drive project execution by managing technical deliverables, schedules, risks, and stakeholder communications.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards, quality systems, and applicable industry regulations.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 1 year of product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
Additional Requirements
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills
  • Experience leading cross-functional product development efforts and influencing stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and business teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
