Job description

Scribd, Inc. is seeking a Senior Product Designer, Growth to shape the growth and lifecycle experience across Everand and Fable. This role focuses on subscription journey design, experimentation, and high-craft execution that improves key subscriber metrics.

Role overview

Everand and Fable are central to Scribd, Inc.’s Premium business, reaching more than 1.4 million readers every month. Growth is defined as moving a curious reader into a engaged community member, converting a free user into a long-term subscriber, and guiding casual subscribers toward habits they rely on.

You will design experiences across onboarding, plans and pricing, referrals, and lifecycle. The work includes partnering with Product, Research, Engineering, Data, and Marketing to identify opportunities, run experiments, and ship design work that impacts real numbers. At this level, you will contribute to leading vision and strategy across growth and lifecycle, reporting to the Director of Product Design and working alongside 6 Premium product and brand designers.

Key responsibilities
  • Own critical moments that convert readers to subscribers, including onboarding, plans and pricing, referrals, and lifecycle.
  • Identify natural ways to connect Fable’s community with Everand’s library.
  • Propose what to test, then partner with your PM to scope experiments and define success metrics.
  • Increase subscriber outcomes without relying on dark patterns or tricks.
  • Move concepts into production-ready work while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Develop a strong visual voice across two distinct brands and define new patterns when systems fall short.
  • Prototype early, including in code when appropriate; use AI to explore more ideas; validate through usability testing before shipping.
  • Analyze results to identify where the journey underperforms and provide a point of view on what to try next.
  • Ground decisions in research, competitive insight, and observed customer behavior.
  • Share work early and often to support designers around you in strengthening their craft.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of product design experience, including meaningful time in growth, monetization, or subscription product work.
  • Distinct visual craft, strong interaction design, and the ability to reach high-quality outcomes quickly.
  • Experience shipping experiments that improved conversion, activation, retention, and/or revenue, with an understanding of why changes worked.
  • Comfort thinking in journeys rather than screens, including defining direction when the path is not clear.
  • Daily use of AI to explore, prototype, and interpret outputs, with the ability to hold AI-assisted work to the same bar as your own.
  • Strong interest in reading and the ability to articulate opinions about discovery, sharing, and long-term engagement with books.
  • Ability to justify design decisions with both data and taste.
  • Bonus: motion design, consumer subscription apps, mobile, or community and social product experience.
