Job summary

NewsBreak, based in Mountain View, CA, seeks an experienced Product Designer to own consumer and professional experiences end-to-end. You will lead research, IA, interaction, visual design, and copy, while shaping a scalable design system used by multiple engineers.

You will collaborate with product, engineering, and AI teams to align model and interface behavior, ensure accessibility, and drive continuous discovery with real users on fast-release cycles.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of product design experience for Senior; 9+ years for Staff-level.
• Portfolio showing a repeatable problem-solving framework with outcomes.
• Ownership of a design system used across multiple engineers/teams.
• Fluency with AI-assisted design and prototyping tools while keeping judgment central.
• Hands-on user research and usability testing conducted independently.
• Experience designing conversion-critical onboarding, forms, or transactions with measurable results.
• Strong writing; interface copy is part of design and should be clear.

Responsibilities

• Own product design end to end for consumer and professional experiences (research, IA, interaction, visual design, copy).
• Establish and maintain the design system for a coherent product across fronts and speed up engineering.
• Design decision, consent, and verification-disclosure patterns to make trust legible.
• Set accessibility and inclusive-design standards and ensure they are met in every release.
• Run continuous discovery and usability research with real users and ship changes on short cycles.
• Partner with product, engineering, and AI teams so model and interface behaviors are designed together.
• Over time, shape the design function, including mentoring or expanding the team.
