Job description

About Zipline

Zipline is the world’s largest and most experienced drone delivery service. We are on a mission to serve all humans equally by ensuring access to food, medicine and essential goods anytime, anywhere. We design, build, and operate the world’s largest autonomous logistics system, delivering critical supplies quickly and reliably. Today, Zipline operates on four continents, makes a delivery somewhere in the world every 30 seconds, and has completed millions of deliveries to date, including blood, vaccines, medical supplies, food, and retail products.

Our customers include the world’s largest and most prominent healthcare systems, governments, retailers, restaurants and global businesses who rely on us to save lives, reduce emissions, increase economic opportunity, and provide delivery from point A to point B as fast as possible. The drone is only 15% of what we’ve built to enable seamless, reliable, global operations.

Our system strengthens supply chains, reduces congestion, and gives people time back. With more than 140 million commercial autonomous miles safely flown, Zipline is redefining access to healthcare, consumer products, and food across the globe.

We operate at a global scale and are looking for practical problem solvers who thrive on real‑world challenges and rapid growth. Our team is motivated by building systems that have a direct, meaningful impact on people’s lives and by scaling the future of logistics. We are seeking people who sculpt from first principles, enjoy facing adversity, and can do the impossible at record breaking speeds.

About You and The Role

You are a product designer who enjoys turning complex, high-stakes operational systems into clear, reliable experiences. You will help shape the software backbone of Zipline’s autonomous logistics network, working at the intersection of software, robotics, aviation, logistics, and operations. This role offers a rare opportunity to shape the user experience of one of the world’s largest autonomous delivery networks as it continues to scale. You will have direct access to customers, operators, warehouses, launch sites, and field operations, allowing you to see the impact of your designs firsthand.

  • How do we keep the network moving when demand shifts, weather changes, assets degrade, or capacity gets tight?
  • How do we help users make high-quality decisions when every minute of operational downtime has realworld consequences?
  • How do we design products that seamlessly bridge digital interfaces and physical hardware in the field?
  • How do we build trust in autonomous systems by making network behavior understandable, predictable, and actionable?
  • How do we support users with vastly different levels of technical expertise while maintaining a powerful and flexible platform?
  • How do we turn millions of deliveries and operational signals into interfaces that help customers and operators act with confidence? These are production systems with immediate operational and business consequences. You will have real ownership, make technical and product decisions, and help define how humans interact with autonomous systems at global scale.
What You'll Do

Design high-impact experiences across one or more parts of Zipline’s marketplace platform, including:

  • A desktop app for business owners to manage their users, sites, drones, and access controls.
  • Tablet and mobile apps for businesses to manage and fulfill Zipline orders.
  • Tablet and mobile apps for interfacing with Zipline hardware and initiating flight missions.
  • A suite of internal inventory and warehouse management tools for operators and customer care agents.

In this role, you will:

  • Identify opportunities for design impact and advocate for exceptional user experiences.
  • Own designs from concept through production and ongoing performance.
  • Deliver end-to-end designs for screens, patterns, components, and prototypes, accounting for highly complex systems and edge cases.
  • Coordinate and conduct research and user testing sessions to give your team confidence in what they are building.
  • Build collaborative and empathetic relationships with cross‑functional partners.
What You’ll Bring
  • 6+ years of experience as a UX or product designer.
  • A love of working on complex systems and, more importantly, simplifying them.
  • Experience designing workflow-driven products across mobile and desktop, from conception through implementation, including some mobile experience.
  • Experience with digital products that have offline dependencies, such as service downtime, inventory status, or a user’s proximity to a device; experience with software connected to hardware is ideal.
  • A wide range of tools for helping teams understand and protect the user experience, such as customer journey maps, card sorts, and flow diagrams.
  • Strong judgment about the right level of fidelity at each stage, from low-fidelity prototypes to developer‑ready screen flows and thoughtfully crafted microinteractions.
  • Meaningful experience contributing to or working with a design system.
  • The ability to travel for testing and research.
  • A good‑natured, humble, and highly collaborative approach.
What Else You Need To Know
