Qualifications

• 8+ years working in the design industry.
• 3+ years working in a product-led organization.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Portfolio demonstrating interaction flows, prototyping, and high-fidelity work.

Responsibilities

• Partner with your Product Manager and engineers to represent the user perspective, exploring multiple ideas while knowing when to transition to executable deliverables.
• Collaborate with researchers, product leaders, engineers, product marketing, brand, and other designers to address complex problems.
• Work with cross-functional partners to develop solutions that materially improve the user experience across the products your squad supports.
• Lead most aspects of the design process from start to finish, with support from senior design leaders.
• Explain the value of design and the rationale behind design decisions to design leaders, peers, and the product squad.
• Seek and incorporate design feedback with professionalism and patience, demonstrating improvement based on input.
• Use the design system and ensure accurate, high-quality component application, while identifying needs for new patterns.

Realtor.com’s Avail team is hiring a Senior Product Designer in Austin, Texas to partner closely with a Product Manager and engineers and guide the majority of the design work for a cross-functional product squad. This embedded role focuses on shaping the full design journey from early exploration and just enough research through polished interfaces shipped to landlords and renters.

Role Overview

As the primary designer on your squad, you will contribute design thinking and execution from conception to completion. You will work directly with your Product Manager and engineers, supporting initial research and understanding of user problems, scoping efforts, creation of user journeys, and delivery of polished pixels shipped to landlords and renters who use Avail every day.

This role supports a product-led, end-to-end design expectation. You will be comfortable handling most responsibilities across the full design process for the product or feature your squad is shipping, with oversight and assistance from senior design leaders when needed. Senior design mentors will be assigned to help you grow, collaborate, and strengthen your craft.

Avail is a SaaS platform for independent landlords managing 1 to 10 units and their renters. The product suite supports listings, tenant screening, leasing, rent collection, and maintenance, with additional products serving the renter side of the marketplace.
