Job summary

Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago, IL seeks a Product Design Senior Manager to lead design for AI-enabled legal products, translating business strategy into clear direction and exceptional user experiences. You will guide discovery, define problems, prototype, and collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders.

You will mentor a design team, raise UX/UI standards, apply AI-enabled methods to accelerate learning, and deliver measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Product Management, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of experience in product design or related roles, including leading product design initiatives and teams through discovery, definition, prototyping, delivery, and iteration.
• Experience designing complex enterprise products, workflows, or platforms with multiple personas, handoffs, business rules, exceptions, and information dependencies.
• Ability to analyze ambiguous problems, develop domain knowledge, challenge assumptions, evaluate approaches, and translate findings into product solutions.
• Experience collaborating with Product Management, Engineering, and stakeholders to inform direction, requirements, feasibility, priorities, and delivery decisions.
• Experience managing and developing design professionals, including setting expectations and providing feedback.
• Experience applying AI-enabled tools to product design, research, prototyping, or development.
• Strong communication and influence skills to articulate rationale, tradeoffs, and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery and problem framing with stakeholders to translate findings into actionable product direction.
• Develop understanding of complex business domains to identify root problems and prioritize opportunities.
• Model complex systems and end-to-end workflows to inform product solutions.
• Translate strategy into coherent end-to-end experiences.
• Partner with Product Management and Engineering to shape priorities and delivery decisions.
• Lead iterative prototyping and evaluation of product concepts with Engineering.
• Guide design through delivery, maintaining high standards for UX, IA, and visual design.
• Define success measures using research, usability testing, analytics, and feedback.
• Develop Product Design team through coaching and performance management.
• Advance AI-enabled design practices to accelerate learning and align priorities.
