Job description

Department: Hardware Engineering
Location: Somerville, MA

Summary:

Join a dynamic R&D team, comprising top-tier mechatronics, software, and systems engineers. We’re a collaborative group driven by innovation and great product development to develop the Formlabs printing process and bring transformative products to market.

Role Description:

In this role, you will work cross-functionally and have a pivotal role in the research, development, and implementation of new products. You will innovate new ways of doing things and work with the design teams to advance 3D printing technology. This role requires systems thinking, the ability to research and test new ideas, convert them into functional prototypes, and collaborate with design engineers to bring final designs into manufacturing.

Minimum Requirements:

1. 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanism and mechatronic product design, including contributing to system architecture
2. Experience with cross-disciplinary hardware prototyping (mechanical, electrical, software)
3. Experience working with and controlling sensors and actuators
4. Knowledge of material properties of plastics, metals, and adhesives
5. Hands-on testing and analysis experience, with some simulation background
6. Understanding of high-volume manufacturing techniques
7. Experience with statistical tolerance analysis for precision mechanical design
