Job summary

ITT Inc. in the United States is seeking a Sr Product Development Engineer to design, develop, and test valve products that meet customer requirements and industry standards.

You will collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, product management, and sourcing teams to deliver compliant and manufacturable solutions. The role involves creating test plans, documenting technical files, pursuing patents, and identifying cost‑reduction opportunities while staying current with industry trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5–10 years of relevant valve experience preferred.
• Experience supervising one designer and providing technical direction to design and drafting personnel preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents in English.
• Ability to apply engineering calculations to product design.
• Proficiency with CAD (Creo and Windchill preferred) and engineering & simulation tools.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new products according to company requirements.
• Create test plans and conduct testing of prototype products.
• Identify potential patents and trademark opportunities and work with the legal team for filings.
• Ensure that the products meet all necessary standards and regulations.
• Ensure robust technical documentation and conformity assessment processes, including technical files, calculations, manuals, and declarations of conformity.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of product development.
• Continuously test and evaluate products to ensure quality and functionality.
• Work with Product Management to identify potential cost optimization opportunities.
• Identify and troubleshoot technical issues in the product development process.
• Keep up to date with industry trends and standards to ensure the products are competitive.
• Work closely with Product Management, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to deliver scalable, manufacturable, and customer‑focused solutions.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Position Summary

The Sr Product Development Engineer will design, develop, and test new valve products, ensuring they meet customer requirements and applicable industry standards. The engineer will collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, product management, and sourcing teams to deliver compliant, manufacturable, customer‑focused solutions.

Essential Responsibilities

• Design and develop new products according to company requirements.
• Create test plans and conduct testing of prototype products.
• Identify potential patents and trademark opportunities and work with the legal team for filings.
• Ensure that the products meet all necessary standards and regulations.
• Ensure robust technical documentation and conformity assessment processes, including technical files, calculations, manuals, and declarations of conformity.

• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
• Proficiency with CAD (Creo and Windchill preferred) and engineering & simulation tools.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
• Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Equal Pay Act Range

Annual salary range is $121,800.00 to $182,400.00 plus benefits and incentive plans.
