Job description

Own the mechanical design of automotive antenna products from concept through launch. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to turn complex customer requirements into manufacturable products while working directly with customers, suppliers, manufacturing teams, and engineers across disciplines.

This is an opportunity to do more than own one piece of a design. You’ll stay close to the product throughout its development, applying your mechanical design and analytical expertise to solve challenging problems, influence technical direction, and see your ideas move from CAD and analysis through validation and production.

Our Team

In the Connected Mobility Business Unit, our team develops automotive antenna products that support technologies such as 5G and hidden antennas for connected vehicles.

You’ll work on a focused team supporting a broad product portfolio, giving you the opportunity for meaningful product ownership, technical influence, and autonomy. You’ll collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers, customers, suppliers, and manufacturing partners, providing visibility across the product lifecycle and a direct role in bringing designs to life.

What You Will Do
  • Lead mechanical product development from concept through manufacturing handoff, translating customer requirements into robust, manufacturable product designs.
  • Serve as a customer-facing technical design partner, influencing design direction and leading technical design reviews while collaborating with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and cross-functional engineering partners.
  • Share your technical expertise by mentoring and supporting team members, helping strengthen design practices, problem-solving capabilities, and engineering knowledge across the team.
  • Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using NX CAD software and apply sound mechanical design principles throughout product development.
  • Use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other analytical methods to evaluate structural, thermal, and vibration performance, troubleshoot validation failures, and optimize designs before tooling and production.
  • Select and analyze materials and manufacturing processes, including injection-molded polymers and resins, die-cast and stamped metal components, elastomers, sealing, and fastening methods, to meet mechanical, environmental, performance, manufacturability, and cost requirements.
  • Analyze test results, lead root-cause analysis of product failures, and perform statistical tolerance analysis to improve product performance, functional fit, manufacturability, and design robustness.
  • Communicate analysis and design decisions through technical reports, presentations, and cross-functional design reviews.
  • Travel up to 10% to customer and internal locations, including sites in Mexico and other U.S. locations, to support customer engagement, technical design reviews, product development, and cross-functional collaboration.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • 5 or more years of experience in mechanical product design.
  • Experience performing mechanical product design using NX or equivalent 3D CAD software.
  • Experience supporting new product development from concept through design, validation, and manufacturing handoff.
  • Hands‑on experience with processes including injection molding, aluminum die casting, and elastomer materials used in electronic packaging applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • 10 or more years of experience in mechanical product design.
  • Automotive industry experience supporting GM or another automotive OEM, including experience interfacing directly with customers and participating in technical design reviews.
  • Familiarity with automotive OEM product-development processes and Teamcenter or a comparable PLM system.
  • Experience performing mechanical and thermal FEA simulations using ANSYS and/or ABAQUS.
  • Experience with Altair HyperMesh.
  • Experience with vibration analysis and applying analytical methods to identify and resolve product performance issues.
  • Experience serving as a mechanical design or mechanics‑of‑materials technical expert and guiding cross‑functional teams through complex engineering challenges.
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
