Job summary

Spectrum News NECN is seeking a Senior Producer to drive editorial decisions, fact-check scripts, and create show rundowns. You’ll use data to determine daily news coverage and serve as the newsroom’s heart—providing leadership, inspiration, and feedback.

You’ll lead breaking news planning, mentor team members, and coordinate coverage across platforms while maintaining accuracy and speed in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent television work experience required.
• Proven ability to verify facts and edit scripts for on-air accuracy.
• Experience producing television news with assignment leadership.

As a Senior Producer, you'll play a crucial role in the newsroom by making editorial decisions, fact-checking scripts, and creating show rundowns. You will use data to inform these decisions and determine the news stories that will air each day. Along with your editorial duties, you will serve as the heart of the newsroom - leadership, inspiration, and feedback will be important aspects of your role.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM NEWS NECN

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Television news producing - 4+ years, Line producing - 3+ years
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field, or comparable television work experience
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of current events, and familiarity with the local market and industry trends
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and passion for news, must be able to lift up to 5 pounds
• Travel Ability: Must be open to travel to discover the important stories in your neighborhood and willing to interact with the community
• Schedule: Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends and holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to 'breaking news', and/or severe weather emergencies

Working Conditions

• Works primarily inside a climate-controlled environment throughout the year but might be assigned occasional field duties
• Semi-noisy newsroom environment

A qualified applicant’s criminal history, if any, will be considered in a manner consistent with applicable laws, including local ordinances.

The base pay for this position generally is between $81,800.00 and $131,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
