Job summary

Assurant, Inc. is seeking a Senior Buyer to negotiate complex equipment and strategic services, process requisitions and purchase orders using system software, and drive cost reduction, lead-time improvements, and product quality.

The Senior Buyer will coach and mentor Associate Buyers, and lead complex customer-focused special projects. The role requires advanced knowledge of purchasing contract terms, RFP processes, bid analysis, and the ability to lead complex projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or finance required.
• 5+ years in buying/procurement experience.
• Ability to adapt to changing daily demands and work volumes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills.
• Strong judgment, initiative, problem solving, collaboration.
• Experience conducting RFP projects.
• Knowledge of purchasing terms, concepts, processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Purchase goods and services using procurement processes across Assurant to meet customer needs.
• Review purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy.
• Develop and follow established procurement policies and organization structure.
• Manage suppliers, internal costs, quality and delivery performance.
• Drive continuous improvement in end-to-end procurement processes.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and the business community.
• Maintain positive relationships with internal customers.
• Understand market trends and product changes.
