Job summary

Insight Global in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Procurement Specialist (Aerospace) to lead direct materials purchasing aligned with MRP requirements, forecasts, and production schedules.

You will manage PO changes, expedite critical materials, monitor supplier performance, and collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to support new product introductions and continuous cost improvements. Proficiency in SAP, Excel, and Power BI is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with MRP systems, BOM structures, material master data, and procurement workflows.
• Strong supplier negotiation and cost reduction experience.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and Power Query.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Execute purchase orders for direct materials based on MRP requirements, forecasts, and production schedules.
• Manage purchase order changes, expedite critical materials, and proactively resolve supply shortages.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive on-time delivery improvements through regular communication and performance reviews.
• Partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve supply chain constraints and support business objectives.
• Maintain accurate material, supplier, and purchasing data within SAP.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and long‑term agreements to support cost reduction initiatives.
• Monitor Purchase Price Variance (PPV) and identify opportunities for continuous cost improvement.
• Manage inventory levels to balance material availability with inventory efficiency goals.
• Develop reports and dashboards using SAP, Excel, Power BI, and other analytical tools.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management teams to support production requirements and new product introductions.
• Support engineering change orders, material transitions, and end‑of‑life planning activities.
• Participate in internal and external audits related to procurement and supply chain processes.
• Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on procurement efficiency, planning accuracy, lead time reduction, and supplier performance.

• Knowledge of AS9100, ITAR, DFARS, FAA, or NADCAP requirements.
• Experience with supplier scorecards, risk management, inventory optimization, and Lean methodologies.
• Familiarity with Power BI, SAP reporting tools, or advanced analytics platforms.
• CPIM, CSCP, PMP, Lean Practitioner, or similar certifications.
