Position Overview
TheSenior Procurement Engineerplays a key role in bridgingengineering and procurement functions, ensuring that all sourced materials, components, and systems meet technical specifications, cost targets, and quality standards. This position is ideal for amechanical or electrical engineerwith strong analytical, supplier management, and cost-optimization skills who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing or technology-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical sourcing activitiesfor electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical components, systems, and assemblies for assigned projects.
- Collaborate closely withQuality, Project Managers and Manufacturing Engineeringto translate engineering requirements into supplier specifications.
- Evaluate and select suppliers based ontechnical capability, cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Conductcost analysis and value engineeringto drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
- Review and interpretengineering drawings, BOMs, and specificationsto ensure supplier compliance.
- Supportnew product introduction (NPI)by identifying qualified suppliers and managing sourcing from concept to production.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues, manage change orders, and maintain supplier alignment.
- Negotiatecommercial and technical termsto achieve optimal cost, lead time, and service levels.
- Monitor supplier performance and leadsupplier development or corrective action initiativesas needed.
- Stay current onmarket trends, new materials, and emerging technologiesrelevant to assigned categories.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degreeinMechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management,or Finance(Master’s preferred).
- 3–10 yearsof experience inprocurement, sourcing, or supplier engineeringwithin a manufacturing or engineering-focused industry.
- Strong technical background inelectrical and/or mechanical systems, with the ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications.
- Demonstrated success insupplier negotiations, cost analysis, and value engineering.
- Proficiency inERP/MRP systems, sourcing tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, cross-functional collaboration, and project management skills.
