Job summary

Job description

Responsibilities

• Work with the Life Science Team from initial client contact through project completion, including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.

• Serve as a consulting engineer and technical lead for pharmaceutical and biotech clients on capital projects.

Grey Utilities
  • Act as a process expert for HVAC support systems, air compressors, and cooling towers.
  • Provide regulatory guidance, technology innovations, and OEM supplier interaction from early design through commissioning.
  • Support clients with process flow diagrams, load calculations, balancing, capacity analysis, redundancy strategies, vendor selection, and equipment specifications.
  • Prior experience managing and maintaining grey utility systems in a manufacturing environment.
Waste Water Treatment
  • Act as a process expert for waste‑water treatment systems (neutralization, biological/chemical treatment, polishing/filtration, dewatering).
  • Support design teams with sizing, process flow diagrams, P&ID review, system balance, and integration with plant utilities.
  • Provide support to commissioning teams for testing during and after startup.
  • Prior experience working with design teams on sizing of treatment systems.
Process Water
  • Act as a process expert for process water systems (membrane‑based, purified water, water‑for‑injection).
  • Design and review process flow diagrams, P&IDs, system balance, and sanitation requirements.
  • Have strong knowledge of water membrane systems (Reverse Osmosis) and provide design, installation, and commissioning approval.
  • Prior experience with sizing and design review.
Other Activities Included in Each Role
  • Execute process system engineering from conceptual/planning to final/detail design across various projects.
  • Collaborate with client personnel (Manufacturing, Facilities, Maintenance, Quality, Validation) to ensure GMP compliance.
  • Develop process construction documents including P&IDs, equipment arrangement drawings, piping plans, and related specifications.
  • Interface with OEMs/vendors for equipment sizing and selection.
  • Make a day‑to‑day impact with expertise to strengthen client relationships.
Required Skills
  • Minimum of 7 years of pharmaceutical and biologics process system engineering/design experience.
  • Expertise in wastewater, grey utilities, and/or process water systems.
  • Working knowledge of process definition, unit operations, and regulatory standards.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills including basic AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
  • Willing and able to travel for project requirements (30–50% of the time).
  • BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Bio Engineering preferred; other engineering degrees considered based on experience.
Travel
  • This role may be based remotely anywhere in the United States; travel to customer locations is expected approximately 30% to 50% of the time.
