Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory seeks a highly skilled Facilities Process Piping Engineer to lead analysis, review, and modification of critical mechanical and chemical infrastructure systems. You will act as the primary SME for process piping and plumbing across the project lifecycle, from design to operation and maintenance.

The role requires rigorous engineering calculations, equipment selection, KPI development, and system modeling to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable campus

Qualifications

• Expertise in process piping and chemical delivery systems.
• Experience troubleshooting and performing RCA for facility systems.
• Strong background in system modeling and hydraulic/flow analyses.
• Ability to develop SOPs and PM programs and coordinate with operations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary SME for existing facility process piping, plumbing, and chemical delivery systems.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for system failures and leaks, developing corrective actions.
• Partner with Facilities Maintenance and Operations to develop, review, and optimize SOPs and PM programs.
• Monitor system performance metrics and conduct hydraulic/flow analyses to set safe operating limits.
• Review design packages, P&IDs, and material specs to ensure alignment with plant standards.
• Coordinate critical utility shutdowns and system tie-ins with minimal impact on operations.
• Select replacement materials and components based on lifecycle analysis and chemical compatibility.
• Drive continuous improvement for energy efficiency, water conservation, and automation.
• Ensure compliance with codes and environmental regulations; assist WPC documents and hazard analyses.
