Job summary

Lonza Vacaville, a fully site-based role, seeks a Process Mechanic to maximize equipment availability by performing preventive and corrective maintenance. You will work in a team to support manufacturing of medicines to high quality and safety standards.

The position offers a base salary range of $61,500 to $102,500 per year plus a comprehensive benefits package, including medical/dental/vision, 401(k) matching, life and disability insurance, paid time off, and an employee assistance program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Strong understanding of industrial process maintenance and systems.
• Experience with refrigeration is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Timely execution of tasks and work orders with proper documentation.
• Safe operation of tools and shop equipment in the field.
• Perform confined space entry in compliance with laws and policies.
• Read and interpret piping and instrumentation drawings and manuals.
• Basic computer skills and use of CMMS and standard MS Office apps.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Technology and Engineering for equipment performance.
• Train other mechanics and participate in multidisciplinary project teams.

Job description

Location: Vacaville, CA

This is a fully site‑based role. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

The primary responsibility of a Process Mechanic is to maximize equipment availability for processing by safely maintaining equipment through Preventive and Corrective maintenance and repairs.

In support of these activities, Process Maintenance provides personnel 24/7 support for maintenance, discrepancy response, contractor oversight, vendor resource management, project support and training. All Process Mechanics are trained to perform routine maintenance in the primary manufacturing support areas and Materials Management, Quality Control Labs, and Utility Operations.

Shift: DayShift :6:00am - 6:30pm OR NightShift: 6:00pm – 6:30am

What you will do

• Timely execution of tasks and work orders with appropriate documentation according to Standard Operating Procedures, applicable standards, guidelines, practices, and policies.
• Safe operation of tools and shop equipment, and safe execution of work in the field; working at heights using fall protection and work positioners.
• Confined Space Entry in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
• Ability to read and understand piping and instrumentation drawings, and technical manuals.
• Basic computer skills with the ability to utilize corporate intranet and applications, CMMS, and standard word processing and spreadsheet programs (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.).
• Interact and communicate appropriately with Manufacturing, Quality, Technology, and Engineering to ensure satisfactory performance of mechanical systems.
• Train other mechanics in group and individual settings on qualified tasks; represent Process Maintenance on multidisciplinary project teams.

What we are looking for

• High School Diploma or GED Required
• Strong understanding of industrial process maintenance and systems preferably with refrigeration experience.
• Uses ability as a skilled specialist in accordance with company policies and procedures to complete complex assignments within defined parameters.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodations.
• Experienced in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and calibration management programs; SAP experience preferred.
• Experience working in a GMP regulated environment is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
