Job summary

Ralliant in Fairport, NY is seeking a Sr. Process Engineer to own and drive quality and production improvements across tooling and equipment used in electric utility instrumentation assembly.

You will apply DMAIC, Lean and RBS principles to optimize workflow and ensure safe, efficient plant operations. You will lead Kaizen events, develop new methods and tooling, mentor engineers, perform root cause analyses with 5 Why/8D, and ensure ISO 9001 quality practices.

Qualifications

• BS Electrical/Mechanical/Electro-Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 7+ years in a lean manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated analytical/statistical problem-solving skills; familiarity with statistical methods and software (Minitab, JMP, etc.).
• Proficient in database tools and ability to use programming language for modifying databases and reporting purposes.
• Experience in process improvement and CAPA; knowledge of DMAIC, Lean, and SPC; certifications preferred (Green Belt, Black Belt).
• DFM and/or Lean production flow knowledge.
• Knowledge of Quality Systems ISO9001; quality tools (MSA, R&R, PFMEA).
• LabVIEW and SolidWorks knowledge preferred.
• Hands-on mechanical ability; tooling and equipment problem solving.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience integrating automation and vision systems a plus.
• CAPEX project management experience.
• Driven to get results and manage change; strong collaboration and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Own and develop area process improvement and project portfolio.
• Investigate, analyze, develop, and determine processes and improvements for new and existing products.
• Plan equipment layout and workflow to maintain safe and efficient plant resources.
• Coordinate Kaizen and continuous improvement with RBS principles: standard work, one-piece flow, visual controls, 5S, variability reduction.
• Lead in development of new methods, tooling, test systems, and machine designs to reduce cycle time and improve productivity and quality.
• Lead planning, research, design and development of manufacturing engineering projects.
• Own troubleshooting of internal and external quality issues via RCA/5 Why/8D and drive CAPA
• Mentor and coach peers and early career engineers
• Perform duties in accordance with established quality standards
• Support Health, Safety and Environmental rules
• Perform such similar, comparable or related duties as may be required

Your Impact

This position involves ownership of planning and overseeing quality and production improvements, using verification and production ramp-up of tooling and equipment involved in assembling of the instruments, controls and monitors used in the Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution Industry.

• Ownership and development of area process improvement and project portfolio.

Skills & Experience

• BS Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 7+ years in a lean manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated analytical/statistical problem-solving skills. Familiarity with statistical methods and software (Minitab, JMP, etc.).
• Proficient in database tools and ability to use programing language for modifying/maintaining databases and reporting purposes.
• Proven experience in process improvement, problem solving, and knowledge of process control methodologies such as DMAIC, 6, Lean, and SPC. Certifications (Green belt, Black belt, etc.) preferred.
• DFM and/or Lean production flow knowledge.
• Knowledge of Quality Systems (ISO9001) and demonstrated proficiency with quality tools (MSA, R&R, PFMEA).
• Working knowledge of Lab View and SolidWorks is preferred.
• Hands-on mechanical ability, solving tooling and equipment challenges.
• Ability to integrate and work well in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
