Job summary

Bridgestone's Polymer Engineering Pilot Center in Akron, Ohio seeks a Senior Process Engineer to bridge pilot-scale innovation with manufacturing readiness, scaling new polymer chemistries into production. You will design, commission, and operate a new pilot-scale distillation process, support cross-functional teams, and translate chemistries into scalable, reliable processes.

The role requires a strong plant presence with onsite work of four days per week; relocation assistance may be available

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or polymer engineering or closely related discipline.
• 3–5 years of relevant industry experience required.
• Experience in production or process engineering in a chemical PSM plant or refinery.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with external firms and internal partners to scope, design, and specify process equipment.
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Develop and review process documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, SOPs, and start-up plans.
• Support scale-up of new polymer chemistries and process technologies towards commercial readiness.
• Oversee production trials for new polymer products in a manufacturing environment.
• Troubleshoot process challenges using engineering fundamentals and data analysis.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
• Prepare and deliver project updates and technical presentations to leadership.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, vendors, and engineers to execute responsibilities.
