Job summary

Lubrizol Corporation in Corona, CA is seeking a Senior Process Engineer for 2nd or 3rd shift to lead process improvements and support manufacturing operations.

You will use root cause analysis, lead cross-functional teams, implement cost-saving manufacturing concepts, and mentor technicians while driving FMEA, IQ/OQ/PQ validation, and robust SOP compliance.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in an engineering discipline (Chemical, Mechanical or Biomedical preferred).
• Experience with root cause analysis and cross-functional collaboration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead process improvements to reduce scrap and costs while meeting quality targets.
• Support extrusion, secondary operations, and packaging to ensure delivery and quality.
• Lead launches of new product activities including FMEA, PFD, and design reviews.
• Engage maintenance to resolve process and equipment issues using systematic troubleshooting and corrective actions.
• Develop and implement process documentation and SOPs; close CAPAs in a timely manner.

Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 with 6% bonus

How You’ll Make an Impact

As a Senior Process Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, providing technical assistance and engineering support to the manufacturing group. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life. Your work will directly impact improving existing processes, developing new and cost-effective manufacturing concepts, as well as training production operators, and engaging maintenance personnel in resolving equipment problems using systematic methods of troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and irreversible corrective action implementation. The Senior Process Engineer will be assigned to support all functions of the manufacturing areas.

• Drive process improvements including technology, reducing scrap, and new concepts made real and reduced costs as to meet customer expectations on Quality and cost.
• Support extrusion, secondary operations, and packaging to ensure delivery and quality levels.
• Lead flawless launches of new product activities including FMEA, PFD, part and tool design reviews, and other cross functional team events.
• Engage maintenance personnel in resolving process, and equipment problems using systematic methods of troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and irreversible corrective action implementation.
• Provide technical evidence and responses to customer service/customers as required.
• Mentor techniciansand engage maintenance personnel in resolving, tooling and equipment problems using systematic methods of troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and irreversible corrective action implantation.
• Drive validation and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) protocols for new product, equipment, tooling and processes as directed.
• Follow SOP on re-validation of existing equipment, tooling and processes.
• Work closely with internal and external Project Engineers in developing processes that meet customer expectations on cost, quality and delivery of new product development.
• Document lessons learned and report status of all projects and assignments in a timely manner.
• Generate, update and implement process documentation, to include PCO’s, operator work instructions, manufacturing procedures, sample requests, process, inspection and troubleshooting guides.
• Close assigned CAPA’s in a timely manner.
• Complete projects and report status in a timely manner. Utilize project management tools in establishing timelines, building action item list and completing milestones.
• Understand and follow the SOP’s pertaining to the specific area.
• Understand and follow the work instructions pertaining to the specific area.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Assists cost accounting in establishing new or revised standard costs for new or existing product lines.
• Support the conversion of small –scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.

Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success

• BS Degree in an Engineering discipline (Chemical, Mechanical or Biomedical preferred)
• 5+ Years of experience in an industrial environment including Co-op experience.
• Experience with Root cause analysis
• Excellent (written and verbal) communication and effective human interaction skills.

Preferred Qualifications that Drive you Forward

• Experience with Thermoplastics extrusion, molding and/or assembly process is strongly preferred.
• Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
• Lean Manufacturing
• Flexible to change, and possess a high degree level of integrity and “can do attitude”.
• Able to comprehend college algebra, college physics, basic chemistry, statistics and unit conversion.
• Able to learn fast and multi-task.
