Job summary

Atomica, a U.S.-based MEMS and AI hardware foundry, seeks a driven senior engineer to join Process Control in Santa Barbara. You will own a MEMS production line, oversee wafer fabrication processes, and apply SPC and metrology to ensure in-spec products.

You will collaborate with fab operations and engineering teams to drive root-cause analysis, resolve discrepancies, and improve efficiency while maintaining safety and quality across high-mix MEMS devices.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering (MSE/ECE/Chemical/Mechanical/NanoE).
  • Hands-on semiconductor fabrication experience including metrology/etch/cvd or thin films.
  • Strong data analysis and SPC knowledge.
  • US Persons under ITAR compliance required.

Responsibilities

  • Be a product owner on a main MEMS production line.
  • Develop and monitor wafer fabrication processes with metrology and lithography.
  • Create process flows and engineering solutions to optimize production.
  • Edit and maintain technical docs and training materials.
  • Analyze process performance to improve efficiency, output, and safety.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to ensure quality control.
  • Align with operations leadership on lot movements and targets.

Atomica supports customers developing AI optical connectivity, AI optical source integration, photonic integration, thermal microstructures, physical AI sensors, MEMS optical control systems, and biotechnology microdevices with rapid prototyping and scalable production.

Atomica supports customers developing AI optical connectivity, AI optical source integration, photonic integration, thermal microstructures, physical AI sensors, MEMS optical control systems, and biotechnology microdevices with rapid prototyping and scalable production. Atomica is looking for a driven senior engineer to join our Process Control team. You'll provide key oversight and engineering support to keep our MEMS foundry running smoothly. This is a high impact role that includes close collaboration with the fab operations team to perform root cause analysis, resolve discrepancies, maintain in-spec products and use statistical process control and metrology tools to verify tool capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to work on a high mix of cutting-edge MEMS devices and AI automated inspection techniques in a growing organization.

Objectives
  • Be a product owner on one of our main production lines
  • Develop, implement, and monitor wafer fabrication processes, including operating metrology, lithography, vacuum, electroplating, and wet etch systems for MEMS product development and production
  • Create process flows and design engineering solutions to optimize manufacturing processes
  • Edit and maintain technical documentation and training materials
  • Analyze process performance using observational data and measurements to improve efficiency, output, and safety
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to ensure quality control and meet manufacturing objectives
  • Collaborate with the VP of operations and Director of process control to ensure alignment on lot movement and manufacturing targets
Capabilities
  • Masters degree in a relevant Engineering discipline - MSE, ECE, Chemical, Mechanical, NanoE (Ph.D. preferred)
  • Hands-on experience in semiconductor fabrication, including metrology, lithography, etch, cleans, or thin films
  • Proficient in data analysis with strong critical thinking skills
  • Working knowledge of SPC for statistical process control and data analysis
  • Attention to detail, teamwork, work ethic and communication skills
  • Lean Six Sigma qualification (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Labview or Python (preferred)
  • Background in wafer level testing and yield analysis
  • Must be a US Persons under ITAR (citizen, green card holder, refugee, or asylum seeker).
