Overview

The Senior Analyst, Private Equity Operations, will be responsible for executing and managing operational activities across the private investment lifecycle, including deal approval, execution and settlement, IPOs, restriction tracking, corporate actions, and liquidity events. The Senior Analyst will coordinate across functional teams when material events occur and oversee private placement vendors and other outsourced functions. The role will also support capital account activity for private fund of funds investments, including capital calls, distributions, capital account statements, and GP reporting. The individual will apply fund accounting expertise to validate investment activity and ensure Wellington’s economic interests are accurately reflected in our books and records. Additionally, the Senior Analyst will design new processes, enhance existing workflows, oversee the implementation and improvement of supporting technology, and manage relationships with external vendors.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Execute all components of the private deal lifecycle, with a primary focus on deal approval and pre/post execution process, lifecycle events, IPO and liquidity exits, and corporate actions.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the deal approval & lifecycle management processes directly with private Issuers, as well as internal teams, in particular: internal and external Legal Counsel, Investors, Trading, Fund Services & Business, Valuations, and back‑office teams.
  • Analyze legal documentation related to private transactions to operationalize each deal in which we invest, such as: Stock Purchase Agreements, Credit Agreements, Subscription Agreements, Merger Agreements, etc.
  • Track deal covenants, restrictions, and position changes for new and existing deals, especially during security creation and lifecycle events.
  • Coordinate activities when an impactful event has been identified such as IPOs, cleaning of restricted shares, SEC registration, corporate actions, and distributions.
  • Review and resolve discrepancies on reconciliation reports – cash/position/security master – to ensure the investment book of record is in good order daily.
  • Manage the operational lifecycle of private fund of funds investments, including initial investment and ongoing capital account activity, while establishing effective controls to ensure data accuracy across Wellington and third‑party systems.
  • Review GP’s reporting, including capital account statements and financial statements, and reconcile commitments, contributions, distributions, unfunded commitments, NAV, ownership interests, fees, and other activity to Wellington’s books and records.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies with GPs, fund administrators, and internal teams; interpret relevant fund terms; and ensure material lifecycle events are accurately reflected across accounting, valuation, performance, and reporting processes.
  • Oversee the third‑party vendors and related processes that support these activities.
  • Adapt and evolve processes, controls, workflows, and systems to support new private funds and new asset classes.
  • Ensure stakeholders receive consistent, timely and accurate communication for operational events associated with private placements.
  • Support data needs for all functional teams involved in the private process, in particular, for performance and internal/LP reporting.
Qualifications
  • 4-7 years supporting the end-to-end lifecycle of private equity, real estate, evergreen, and secondaries investments, including experience reviewing private equity legal documents, restriction tracking, corporate actions, trade execution/settlement, and other lifecycle events, with a working knowledge of private fund structures.
  • Have a deep understanding of private investment concepts across a range of asset classes, including equity, credit, real estate, evergreen, secondaries, fund of fund, and PIPEs.
  • Experience with industry technology used in supporting private equity & credit strategies (Dynamo, EDGAR, SEC.gov, IVP & Geneva).
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the end-to-end lifecycle of private fund of funds investments, including capital calls, distributions, capital account statements, commitments, and other GP initiated activity.
  • Strong fund accounting knowledge, including partnership accounting, NAV, capital accounts, ownership interests, allocations, fees, and expenses, with experience reviewing GP or fund administrator reporting and independently identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Ability to leverage strong technical skills to improve operational processes, such as SQL, PowerBI, Tableau, Excel macros & AI.
  • Intellectual curiosity with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail and time management skills with ability to prioritize work and function with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to think critically to challenge the norm and propose new ideas and solutions.
  • Effective articulation with written and oral communication skills, including the ability to create compelling presentations using MS PowerPoint.

Compensation Details

The base salary range for this position is: USD 90,000 - 180,000

Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
