Job summary

GENERAL PUBLIC is a pioneering art publishing company in California seeking a Production Artist & Color Specialist. You will own color accuracy from file to final print, ensuring consistency across scanners, printers, proofs and reprints, and you’ll work closely with Digital Art and production teams to keep workflows smooth.

This is a skilled, hands-on role focusing on advanced color management, file creation, and print production.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on large format print production or fine-art reproduction (required)
• Portfolio or samples of production and color work
• Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Art, Photography, Digital Media, Art History or related field is a plus
• Valid California driver’s license (required)

Responsibilities

• Build master print files and setup for textured and single-layer printing
• Perform color correction, retouching, proofing and restoration
• Operate RIP software and manage ICC/device/media profiles
• Preflight, crop and optimize files; ensure naming/versioning
• Handle production file design/layout and new projects
• Run Canon/Epson printers and manage color across devices
• Maintain workflow, document settings and improve processes
